6 A.F.C. Players booked,1 Sent off,Angels all of them.Young Chris Smith No 9,ran your centre backs ragged all night with his pace which your back 4 lacked. He had 2 one on ones, and gained a Penalty, unfortunately none converted.Thats what I call good Management, see a sides weakness and play to it.Lovely tricks from your lads all night, but not where it mattered.Agree with Molly11 SORE LOSERS.I have covered the Ref elsewhere,A DISGRACE for a County Cup Final.

I was at the game as a totally independent football fan. 1st half South Park just edged, both teams had great one on ones and manged to miss. South Park worked hard and didn't let AFC play. I wouldn't say they were a long ball side any more than AFC were, the South park defence had numerous long balls to deal with and both one on ones were long balls. Both teams tried to get the ball down on a hard bobbly pitch. Second half AFC just edged on the basis of their pressure but penalty was very scrappy and questionable if it was handball. I think the front two for Park troubled the AFC defence more than the AFC forwards troubled Park. I had to leave after 90 mins so can't comment on extra-time but on the basis of what I saw there was nothing betwween the sides.

As for the referee I have to say I sympathise with him. In one breath players and supporters want referees to apply common sense but the very next statement they make is they want them to be consistent - It has to one or the other. He booked bad challenges, he booked players that didn't retreat 10 yards - you can't say that the players didn't know where they stood with him. They have to shoulder the responsibiltiy for their own actions.

Referees are dealing with 2 sets of 11 players all trying to pull the wool over their eyes along with 2 sets of supporters seeing every event from their own perspective - I thought he had an alright game.

Well done to South Park, they may have been underdogs but this was a completely even match - however, one side thought they should win it and one side wanted to win it. .

And finally - no-one has mentioned Parks first goal, a 30 yard stunner thundered in on the half-volley - a goal to grace any final.

Have you seen Johnno's goal in last seasons League Cup Final? - check out the video section above. Now that's a goal to grace a final wink.gif . Cue NG response smile.gif

re AFC midweek team,i think you will find when they do play, it is first team squad players that get a run out. so lets not think it is a weak side they beat.coffee%20%282%29.gif

I can quite catorgorically say they do not have a midweek team. Their team last night involved the same players that made them top of the suburban League. I know most of the players and they play on Saturdays as well as midweek. It wasnt a weaker side but from playing with most of these players at the beginning of the season, Marcus didnt choose the right team for that game.

think you will see when 1st team are not in midweek action 3/4 squad players have played take last midweek game. had 3

1st team squad players playing. there is nothing wrong with that, why do teams run reserve sides.coffee%20%282%29.gif

Of course that happens im not saying it doesnt but i played there at the beginning of the season, my brother is first team player there and i know Gayley very well and all of the players very well. When i watch them play there is rarely first team players playing other than when they need to get fit etc as what should happen at any club as imo is the correct way to run a club.

How many games has your brother played for 1st team. and how many for ressies. coffee%20%282%29.gif

I'm not going to make many friends for this but although I offer congrats to South Park they were very fortunate.

The ref did not help, he was awful for both sides. The Dons keeper should have got a red card, for instance, but South Park were lucky to finish with 10 men. And their No6 was a disgrace at the speed he got up after the ref sent of the Dons player.

The main 90 mins were fairly even but Dons took complete control in extra time and were the only team that actually tried to pass.

The high defensive line meant all South Park did was long ball down the middle, virtually every single time. Barely an attempt to do anything different.#

Without Rhino in goal it could have been totally different scoreline.

Still, congrats and good luck for the future.

Thanks for your kinds words on the Dons forum, you managed to offend two clubs and supporters. Sore loser? I think so.

Not sure how I offended two clubs but whatever.

Even if we had won my opinion on South Park would not change.

They were a physical side who, may have skill but chose not to show it, but simply played the ball over the top for fair on the whole game.

I couldn't watch that week in week out, IMHO it was awful to watch.

I know you guys on here are proud of them because they are a CCL side but, quie frankly, I would be embarassed to follow a side that played like that each week. Maybe when up against other CCL sides their game changes.

As a coach of youth players if any of my team did some of the things SP players did, particlarly the no6 I would sling them out.

Ok i'll spell it out for you as your obviously bitter, in my eyes this post on the dons forum offends my club and Coney Hall.

Jertzee: "Ressies very unlucky. They created teh majority of the chances in extra time and South Pak only knew how to foul and hoof. Dons keeper should have got a red as the ref gave apenalty but to be honest he had so little to do it would not have made any difference. South PArk were scum on and off the pitch."

Jampot: "Pub team then Jertzee?"

Jertzee: "Jampot - thats a slur on pub teams...... They were Coney Hall Mk2"

Ha ha...lovely.

So you think I offended Coney Hall, do you??

Brilliant. I managed to offend the only team that have ever caused one of our matches to be abandoned following the behaviour of their players and fans......

Right....

I will however say that most of the South Park fans I saw were ok. I didn't like the comments a few aimed at us in extra time as we walked through them to get to the other end of the ground, and I also don't take too kindly to any group of fans (again, not all SP fans) that cheer when one of their players clatters into and fouls one of the opposition (whoever they may be).

If I offended the good people of SP then I apologise. If I offended thoe others then I do not.

Now now jertzee i managed coney hall that night . . . . Lets not go there.

Tucs - I am happy to not go there either. A forgettable evening which was a shame as the matches themselves were quite memorable.

As is usual, I bet that the real and true people involved with both Coney Hall and South Park are more than ok.

Most teams have nutters that go in harder than others (including ours)...certainly the Dons teams I watched 20+ years ago, lol.

The last hour of last night was exciting and I dont really want the few to spoil it. The game started slowly and got better. I'm biased and thought we deserved the win, hey ho, we didn't.

I'm new on here and don't want to be seen as a moany [****!!****]. I'm not, honest.... :)

Well done South Park!

Re: ref being assessed... standard practice at all of the main Saturday and Sunday cup finals. We have certainly been instructed not to referee any differently just because it is (1) A cup final or (2) We are being assessed. If players don't want cards, don't perform any misconduct. Simples!
