Todays Match

I think its important we wave the flag when we get the results. I thought Welford and Tom played well up front, infact i think everyonr had a good game some excellent tackles going in and great effort from Curtis as per. Even to the Subs I thought Sam Groombridge had a brilliant 10 or so minutes.

We should support the team and especially the Manager, it would be a traversty if Iain didn't think he had the support from us. Continunity is the secret to sucees. We will do better this season tahn we did last, and i for one am cnfident that if Iain keeps the team next season will be even better. Remeber the days with Kinnears 10 year reigh, and i'm sure many disagreed with his style and selections.

Sorry to say i don't have any coaching badges, although one i did get a coach from London to Edinburgh.

Just some thoughts from a Fan Well done Iain and the lads...

Solid performance. Thought Carshalton poor - had a good free kick specialist hence their goal and Turner's excellent save earlier. Bradbrook looking better each time I see him. Back 3 were outstanding - Cloke,Ball and Hill sign them up for next season.Tuesday will be more of a challenge. Lets hope no serious injuries. Sean took a knock - hopefully not serious.

Best performances on the day,for me,where from Wilson, Cloke & my m.o.t.m Laurence Ball. Never missed a header & his positional play throughout was superb.

Well done those three & well done I.O. & the rest of the team. Not a classic by a long way but a worthy victory & a much needed 3 points.

yep well done lads , much better team performance alround and was particually impressed with Wayne , always in the right place got involved with everything he could and his crossing was top notch . Only one i felt sorry for was Shaun his commitment to the team is second to none , i just wish he could score that one goal he needs and i think he could fire us up the league along with Tom to a top 10 finish .

I couldn't make it yesterday but was at the Carshalton away game. Shaun ran his boots off in that match and I said at the time that he deserved a goal. I'm sure one wil come soon and that will be the start of a few more.

Yeah got booked & injured for a last ditch tackle in defence when they were clean through.Only Lacey was there with him at the time having failed to knock the guy off the ball. Superb workrate from Shaun.Just needs a break in front of goal. It will come. He even dropped back into the centre half position whilst Laurence Ball was temporarily off injured

I'll give my more objective views on the match - obviously if you don't like my views don't read them or take them to heart - Just an opinion! You'll be pleased to know that I'm not even going to go down the critisism of IOC route (ok maybe one very minor one later on lol).

Before I start, a great 3 points - not a great performance but certainly 3 welcome points. Team wise I wasn't suprised to see Pinno in the middle, however I was suprised to see Lacey start and Groombridge be sacrificed from the holding role. I was the biggest voice (if you like) at saying Welford should have been dropped, but I hold my hands up and say he was the only player seemingly interested in a very scrappy opening 5 minutes that didn't get much better through the entire half. It really was insipid to watch - Carshalton didn't look much better either. Wilson delivered his first corner which had their 'keeper all at sea and they were lucky not to go one down as no Margate player was making the same run as the two Carshalton defenders were. Rectified soon after, another good delivery and our first shot on target goes in.

Turner made a top drawer save from the from the first free kick but (and I think he'll be the first to say it) could have done better with the second as his starting position was slightly off and thoise extra couple of feet would have made the difference. Don't get me wrong, the strike was good, but it did lack pace.

The rest of the first half followed a same pattern. Carshalton winning the first ball in Midfield and then ............... no-one contesting the second ball half of the time which meant we seemed to come away with it (it was really strange), but didn't utilse. Best move actiually came from a mishit 10 yard ball from Lacey that Wilson did well to recover with a great tackle in the middle to win the loose ball and get to his feet and hit a lovely ball in behind the full-back to Robinson who delivered a great cross, unfortunately there was no-one on the end of the move. The only gripe really was the midfield three didn't seem to gel for me, with different players dropping deep as no-one seemed to be designated the holding role. This was OK when they were communicating but when that broke down we exposed the back three. Talking of which Dean Hill had a shaky few minutes at the start but soon recovered and they all looked pretty comfortable most of the time. Oh, and Dan Youngs should have walked with the GBH commited on Curtis Robinson. Shocking decision that the ref bottled.

Start of the second half - great corner from Rogers, 'keeper flapped at thin air and Bradbrook went 'Cheers easy' nodding home our second shot on target. 100% - two shots on target = two goals. (see where I'm going with this lol)

I thought Carshalton certainly started playing better after conceeding, it sparked them into a bit of life, and Maragte looked to adopt the usual back foot policy. The Midfield were being outplayed (once again Pinno was a passenger as the game passed him by).

I was concerned when they made the two subs, thinking they were going to try something different but they pretty much went like-for-like so nothing new from Carshalton for IOC to try and get his head around.

Comedy moment had to be Aaron of de Lacey - Their nippy little winger ran at him, dropped his shoulder a couple of times, feinted this way and that. Poor old de Lacey didn't know which way to turn, so whilst back on his heels in did a triple salko, double pike ending up flat on his backside. Genius. Funny? well I nearly bought a pint!

Only critisism here of IOC was I feel (that's me personally) that Groombridge should have been brought on at this point to strengthen up the midfield. When Welford got injured i thought perfect, the decision has been made for IOC - Shove Pinnock up top, Groombridge on, that has to be an easy decision at that stage with Carshalton slightly on top. But he kept it the same to bring on new signing Miller. (I must say he's the oldest academy product I've ever seen, he looks about 55!!). If he wanted to give him a good run he could easily have made the double substitution. Anyway no harm done. It was also nice to see a bit of invention with one of the free kicks.

Final 4 minutes of injury time were the most entertaining of the day with all the pullavah with their number 4.

So anyway, final whistle and three valuable points with other results being favourable. The team didn't play particularily well and Carshalton were once again poor value for money.

And before anyone say's Nay lad it were a brilliant game - consider this - 94 minutes and Margate had two shots and target - they both went in - their 'keeper did not make One save all afternoon, he didn't need to. Welford not scoring? He didn't get the chance to on Saturday. Unfortunately the game was poor - official - but we'll take the 3 points, thank you, kerchang kerchang!

Hope it continues up at Bury tonight - I can't make it but I hope it's worth it for the supporters venturing up there. remember they're a strange bunch up there, don't stray orf the path, and don't respond when they say 'give us a high Six' cheesy%20%282%29.gif

I would request both Pridders and Gillighamboy make yourselves known to me at the next home match Tuesday 22nd or Sat 26th so we can discuss your disagreements face to face and not drag it out on the forum,

I will be the steward standing by the gate leading to the dressing rooms

Er Hello - I think you'll find there is only one person doing all the baiting here (the evidence is there for everyone to see), that's until his little 'lion' buddy jumps on board - but you need to look at the evidence before lumping me in his boat if you please!

In the meantime I suggest you have a word with Mr Anonymous Gillinghamboy as he seems to be the one with a fair few issues - I'm that bored of him I don't see the reason to respond unless he puts down something half sensible and drops the attitude - I've given him one fair, balanced & thought out reply which he obviously can't hack so I'm not going to waste my energy!

There was absolutely no need for his post (above) as it did not refer to anything in my post, just an unwarranted childish statement - most juvenile. As mentioned, I'm not hiding behind a screen name, if you'd like to come and speak to me I look like my picture (less hair though ).

I suggest as you are near the dressing rooms you take Pridders to meet the Manager and the Kit Manager and the players he likes to ridicule. He can discuss his opinions face to face. He hasn't managed it so far.

Did you actually read the post below - no one is riduculed - in previous posts certain people have received criticism from me but not ridiculed - I thank you. Now read it properly
