Grays v ETFC

Very poor performance in general and we only really came to life in the last 15 minutes after a triple substitution, during which time we were unlucky not to equalise. That said, it would have been undeserved if we had come home with a point. Changes should have been made earlier in my book.

Don't like being negative but I feel we are struggling at the moment to make the playoffs as every other game I watch is a bad performance. We were playing better football when we went on that 6 match losing streak. Then I came away disappointed and frustrated because we weren't deserving to lose, but lately if we've lost it's been a different story.

We are second to everything in the middle of the park, always on our heels, we almost look jaded. Anyone know the latest on injured players? or if indeed players like Deniz or Sam still even play for us? We need Jon Moore back desperately. Lastly, Stevenson and Jonah are both good players, but cannot play together as it's just killer ball after killer ball.

Nothing better than estuary Essex and chavvy, beer swilling, dirty mouthed Grays fans to put up with ;-)

It was a bit depressing other than the last 15-20mins.

Sad thing is I thought Gray's were very ordinary, a lot of huff and puff with little skill or technique. But they deserved their 3 pts this evening, however will not be in the Play Off's in my view.

In my view the Play Off's are between Heybridge, Sudbury and ourselves, with Maldon as the outsiders.

I still believe we can do it, just needs freshening up and some self belief.

Let's look forward to Needham in a psitive and enthusiastic way, believing we can tear them part.

A shocking performance last night. It was a bouncy pitch but last night players did not seem to know what to do with the ball. They weren't finding space or each other. The defence was under the cosh for almost all of the first half as the midfield could not keep the ball and the forwards were not receiving it.

In the second half we were slightly better but could not get into the danger areas. There was little pace up front until Stuart came on. There was little intelligence in the middle until Bryan arrived.

Forwards are going to get shoved and pushed but the ref last night did not seem to give any of them. There was a time when Liam had the defenders arms around his neck but the ref waved play on. Liam must realise he is not going to get anything and stay on his feet even when he can feel he is being pushed - PUSH BACK.

As for the beer. There was a good pint of Hook Norton in the Bull opposite. I think I should have stayed in there. :wall:

Of the current top 12 only Romford who are on a terrible run have a worse record than the Town. We can't afford to lose anymore games and hope for a large slice of luck thrown in as well starting with doing East Thurrock United a favour and beating Needham Market on Saturday. A nice six game winning streak would be good???

Ultimately if we don't make the top five it'll be our home form that was our downfall. It won't be the end of the world....football is only as game after all.....
