Stewards

We are currently looking for volunteers to help out stewarding. We need at least two people regularly to help out although if a few people came forward then the stewarding could be shared,to be honest it's not hard work as most games go off without incident,it may just involve sitting in your usual seat or standing place with a yellow jacket on,just in case something was to happen. If you can help, let me know

Can anyone apply for this responsible role, or do I have to have a qualification for letting off a flare at the end of the game ?

Good job there wasn't an over offious league official there last night, otherwise think you may be having to ban that steward from the ground ;-)

There was no flare,a small smoke device was let off by someone, not sure whether it was an aveley or Hornchurch fan but the steward got hold of the device and diffused it straight away,my opinion is it could of been one of the young Aveley contingent who had earlier been warned by the steward for jumping over the fence which is supposed to be a barrier between the players and the spectators,he handled both situations very well despite being verbally abused by the young hoodlums who again after the final whistle got over the barrier,in fact did I not see your good self encroach onto the pitch after the game ;)

The only thing I saw flying through the air was the ball as it rocketed into the Aveley goal

Given your eyesight, and the distance from the bar, someone must have described the goal, or you went home early and saw it on U Tube!

Couldn't have been a Aveley hoodlum, as they had a 8-30 curfew as it was a school nite !

Me encroach the hallowed Bridge Avenue surface .... I couldn't resist a sortay onto the green baize, to see how bad it really was. Think the shingled car park out the back would have prodcued a better surface to play :-) ..... still at least when you come to us you will be use to playing on [****!!****] surfaces !!

There a few points I would like to raise about this game. Actually I won't as we already have three

Its a bit more than that, stewarding is an important responsible job, any mug can stand in an orange jacket.

It is an important function that requires high levels of training and qualifications at NVQ 2,or above, an orange jacket will do until it all goes wrong.

We have a team of stewards with radios, reporting to a head steward who is trained and coordinates all activity in the gound, "over kill" probably until you need them!!!,
