AFC Hayes 2-4 Rebels

Excellent result!

Some truly brilliant goals, comedy defending, comedy refereeing and a bit of a barney with some AFC Hayes officials who had bigger mouths than brains.

Wonderful entertainment!

MOTM Chris Herron. Same again on Saturday please!

Rubbish first-half and a decent second-half after a slow start to the 2nd half although we can play a lot better. Awesome volley by Seeby for the first goal. Looked a bit suspect to them on the break and a bit worrying they only had about 4 shots on target all night, scoring two of them.

Sweens 100th appearance for the club. Well done Simon. Probably say our most consistent player that has played for us since we moved to Holloways Park.

By the way what happened at the end heard some shouting?

Couldn't agree more.

The first half despite controlling the game we somehow found ourselves behind and you felt it was going to be the same old story for a trip to Brook House. But second half there was cutting edge to our possession and despite falling behind again we hit back with quick goals to comfortably see the game out.

Herron was outstanding and some of the football was brilliant. Martin's goal in particular was excellent, he won the ball in midfield, laid it on to Swift who dribbled across field before picking out Herron on the opposite flank, with the keeper going walkabout Hezza nutmegged him to pick out Martin who rammed it home. Brilliant.

I must also applaud the worst booking ever for their keeper for time wasting. He was previously warned for no reason and then when the ball was kicked out of the ground we started appealing before a replacement had even been kicked back on and he was booked within 5 seconds of the ball being in the penalty box. Despite it being nowhere near his feet and him having no chance to get the game going. Hillarious.

nothing much to add to what has already been said. 1st half we was in control most of it but didnt really create anything worth shouting about. they scored after we fell asleep and let a shot from edge of box. hard to say if Bully shoulda saved as on that sort of pitch shots that dart of the turf seem to cause problems for keepers. they got 2 goals from only 2 shots they had that were on target and not straight at our keeper

2nd half some lovely team goals when we got the passing going and looked to go direct and quick at times ripping Hayes defence apart. our first 3 goals were all wonderfully crafted. Seebys volley was outstanding

ref seemed to have no understanding as to what was going on. as said their keeper being booked was beyond words ridiculous. disgraceful refereeing tbh. 1st half ref also forgot what decision he had previously given after having a word with the linesman

again the points were what really mattered and we came through strong eventually although as late as 60 odd minutes it didnt look like we would come through as comfortable as 4-2 winners

standout player was Herron who petrified their defence by run at pace and daring to take their defenders on. probably as good as i have seen from Herron. if he can replicate that consistently he could end up becoming a massively major player for us

I thought we very sluggish for the first 20 minutes of the 1st half with AFC Hayes looking very lively and IMO they were the better team. We then got ourselves going for the remainder of the half only for all our shots to go straight to their keeper.

Second half was a different story. We got our a#ses in gear from the start, getting to the ball first and playing some lovely stuff. Two goals from Chris Seeby and one from Martin after some excellent crosses from Herron, the first goal from Seebs on the volley must be a condender for goal of the season. Not forgetting an excellent finish from Burnell into the far corner to seal the victory.

The two goals from Hayes were from very sloppy defending allowing their players time on the edge of the area to shoot and score into the same corner.

We can't afford to gift those sort of goals to Rugby on Saturday.

The shouting at the end was their manager (?) shouting at Slough supporters - unprovoked as far as I can tell. Totally unprofessional and unnecessary abuse, but sadly the kind of thing you get from this club. What prompted him to shout about us not having a ground and to make abusive jestures and just what their players gathered around him for their post match get together in the centre of the pitch thought - well it's a great example. Sore loser Mr. Manager, you were well beaten in the end so accept it and grow up.

So following that we had some geezer by the exit commenting about our £4000 a week wage bill. We wish! Oh and the ball boy/kitman/trainer who found it necessary to try and wind Slough supporters up at 2-1 was very quiet at the end.................

Finally we get treated poorly despite providing their biggest attendance of the season and therefore biggest income. They couldn't even provide programmes - at least not until after most of us were in the ground.

.

It all makes the result that much sweeter.

Rather makes a mockery of the code of conduct on the AFC Hayes website. Respect opponents, respect supporters, accept defeat with dignity. :)

And dont forget club officials calling us inbreds, after their 'one foot in the grave' supporters called me a [censored] idiot for complaining about the Danny burnell pen not being given. Great 2nd half Seeby scored 2 great goals (sonners should NEVER have been disallowed) and Herron was amazing.

Terrific second half performance from the boys and all four goals were very well put together with Seeby’s first being the pick of the bunch. Herron was awesome.

As for the manager, officials and goalkeeper of AFC Hayes, thank you for the six points and nine goals this season – I wish you well in your bid to get relegated back to the pub league where you belong.

Firstly - the score should have been 6-2 as the ref failed to give the penalty in the opening mins and also by the reaction of the keepers to Sonners goal that should have stood.

Secondly - yet another 45 min performance.

Finally - what a dump that ground is, little more than a field and a portacabin! - must be the most basic in the leauge. But the club should be recognised for their engagement with the care in the community programme - all the officials and management have come from the scheme and are starting to show some progress, however some still have a long way to go! As for the attendance of 125 being only their second gate over 100 it just goes to show that their hospitality is realy working.

This is one team I hope that gets relegated or goes bust!

A word about our current form: we have now won 5 league games on the bounce.

The last time we acheived this feat was, by my calculations, April 2004 (hopefully somebody will correct me if I'm wrong), where we beat Egham 3-1, Leatherhead 2-3, Molesey 3-1, Windsor & Eton 1-4, Whyteleafe 3-1, Egham Town 2-3 and the Met Police 1-3 (albeit with a B&B cup defeat to Bracknell in between).

Feels eons ago doesn't it?
