Today's Observer: Richard Wilmot

AFF

Recommended Posts

While queuing at the newsagent for my copy of Railway Modellers World this morning, I scanned the back page of the Observer.

The item on The Saints said: ".....Richard Wilmot's shock decision to quit the club.....". There was no further reference.

What????

I think that he has been playing really well this season and has been in my top 3 for MotM on several occasions. I hope that all is well with t'lad. Come to think of it, I hope that the article was wrong.

That's very bad news, whatever the reasons.

Richard Wilmot has done extremely well for The Saints over the past two and a half seasons. The outstanding player over the whole period, probably. Thanks for that and good luck from me.

{Don't forget the registration number of my car if we meet 'professionally' on the A1 in the Stevenage area, mate!]

At the end of the last game, last season, a little lad asked for his gloves. He handed them over very quickly, saying "I won't need them anyway". I thought it was a little strange at the time, and was surprised when he was playing for us at the start of this season. I though he was a good goalie, one of our better players anyway!

It was about 10 I'm sure <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Bad news about Wilmot, I also saw that in the paper, EFM were chatting to him on Saturday and we saw no indication that he was thinking of going, in fact he was in high spirits.

This is very bad news as Bazza didn't really cut it in my opinion as a keeper and Wilmot has saved us on many occasions!

I have just read

WILMOT SAYS GOODBYE

Steve Cook is on the look out for a new goalkeeper. After the 34 year old goalkeeper has decided to hang up his boots. Wilmot played his last game for the day against Maidenead informing the boss he could not guarentee his commitment to the club.

Cook said "He hasn't enjoyed this seasonand doesen't feel he can offer the right level of comitment to the club".

"I think he has found it dificult this year he doesen't feel he can play at5 the level he has played at in the past although i feel he has done verywell this year"

"It is very disapointing but you have to respect his decision".

Baerry White will play in beetween the sticks on Saturday Against Bishop Stortford. But Cook has admitted that he will be on the look out for another goalkeeper to provide White with some competition.

Meanwhile Cook has revealed his frustratiiion with another Jekle and Hyde week from the saints.

Although City lost on Saturday to Bedford it was a better performance.

But it was a differant story on wednesday when they were outfought and outplayed by Maidenhead.

I am sorry to here about that i wish he would stay but as i have just said "you have to resdpectpect his decision".
