Diary from a ground-hopper:

Essex Senior League

Basildon Utd V Takeley

Score: 0-0 when we arrived but f/t: 0-1 Att: 21 (35 h/c in 2nd half) KO: 1500

I didn't pay & saw no progs.

Weather: Cold with a brief bit of drizzle.

 

Venue: The Stadium, Gardners Close, Basildon

Well worn but got character.

 

Match: 11th v 13th out of 16.

Takeley looked the better side but most efforts were off target. The goal was from a penalty on 75mins?, 0-1. BT nearly got an equaliser at the end but both chances were squandered.

 

Drizzly rain most of the way home. Got a bit lost leaving Basildon.

either he got through the hole in the fence or waited till i left gate at 3-30 which i have to do to make refs half time tea,take jugs into changing rooms and pick up officials expense sheets,interesting that he noted that the crowd swelled in the second half as it always does.There were programmes and we had 15 left over all what he had to do was ask,crowd of 21, 10 paying spectators. Take out of the £46 takings refs fees,cost of paint to mark out white lines,ground maintenance,heating and water costs,kit wash and you had the cheek to moan coachie because your boys had to shower in the dark.
