Capital League This Week

Unlike the great Alex I have'nt stopped talking to anyone (although I know a couple of ya wished I did).

From now to the end of the season we will see a younger reserve team playing by us blooding next season's U18's at this level. It'll give the boy's a bigger challenge and extend their abilities (I hope). We could get beat by 5 but I would'nt play anyone who i did not think was able enough.

So interesting experiments lie ahead.

Also look forward to see how Finbar get's on. The average age of the team/squad will be somewhat considerably reduced with the absence of our goal Machine in Dominic Gentle.

Lost 5-3 after being one nil and two one up.

Excellent Town goals from Mandela Gbo, Billy Jones (on debut) and Vaughn Duguid.

Phil Kane played 90 minutes

I'll leave EU to provide the manager's detailed view, but I thought the youngsters competed well in the first half but were overcome by the home side's stamina & strength in the second.

An entertaining game, nonetheless.

Detailed view??? I'll keep it brief.

A spirited effort by a very very young reserve team, supported by Phil 'captain' Kane at left back. We played some decent football on a not too bad a playing surface.

We lead twice coming in 2-2 at HT. We scored 2 great goals but basic defensive errors cost us twice although their 2nd goal was a good finish. We had to put up with some rough treatment from Redbridge which the referee noted by awarding what must have been around 30 free kicks in the game. The Ref failed to protect our youngsters by not cautioning our opponents thus putting a stop to their over physical approach.

It played a big part in wearing down our youngsters where we eventually conceded 3 goals in the 2nd period but pleased with Vaughan's outstanding run/drive then side stepping opponents before unleashing a stunning 3rd goal for us.

Despite the result a very good exercise with the youngsters of which Tremayne Coley, Billy Jones, Connor Bolton, Vaughan Duguid, Scott Hayes, Mandela Gbo, Nick Simmons, Kemal Ozyasa were all 17yrs or younger and will form a formidable FA Youth Cup side next season. Others playing were Ena, Kendall, Izci who will i'm sure be at first team pre season training for next season, along with Volkan who was absent.

Next game v's league leaders Harlow Town on the 29th of March
