Yeah but we are talking about established clubs which have changed their names while established league clubs.Port vale used to be called Burslem Port Vale and I believe dropped the Burslem around 1950

Just checked,originally they were called Port vale,although not an area it represented the ports in the vale which was part of the canal system in the north west,they took on burselm Port vale in 1884 before dropping it again in 1907

There is another problem,fans like clubs to sound like football clubs

Bowers & pitsea fc doesn't have a ring to it like Basildon united or Billericay Town,personally I can't stand names with two separate towns in them

 

Simple, call the club "Basildon"

 

This would cover Dunton to Bowers between the A13 and A127!!

Basildon united or Basildon town Fc

Both names that look right for a football side.Depends on how much ambition clubs have as to what length they go to to publicise themselves better
