Not a good week for Witham then !

Recommended Posts

They love a moan up dont they !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ha ha ha ha

I love how they are complaining about Trigger leaving for Brentwood , the reality of the matter is that you dont have to be released by an ESL club to sign for a ryman one , and you are not under contract.

The whole 7 day approach is usually done out opf courtesy , but there is nothing to stop a player saying " can i sign for you " and very hard for Witham to argue that this didnt happen.

The one thing I would say is that Bethnal Green should be given al 3 points instead of still getting 1 .

To be honest Dan that's what we all including myself assume...coffee%20(2).gif

"during the current season any club wishing to approach a player known to be registered with or having played for any other club must give to the Secretary of each such club, seven days formal written notice of the intention to approach the player:formal written notice of approach need be given by:(A)a Saturday Club only to all Saturday Clubs

(B)a Sunday Club to all Sunday Clubs and

© a mid-week club only to all mid-week clubs.

We had an Olympian Club last year reporting us and this year we had one of our players signing for a Ryman club without this club informing us and I signed one from a Ryman Club by just informing their secretary and asking if he owed any money. They all say it's a different League but according the County Handbook it doesn't work like that.A grey area to me...it ain't black and white at all!

True Rico , but lets say a player approaches a ryman club and gets signed , surely thats his perogative , and as you say its a massive grey area. the 7 day thing is nonsense anyway , no club ever leaves it 7 days to talk to a player !

That's where it's wrong though. Earlier in the season I lost 5 players in 2 weeks to illegal approaches. 2 to one club, 3 to another.

They went to play at a higher level & although I wanted to keep them, I would never stand in their way of progressing.

If everybody used the 7 Day rule correctly, there wouldn't be a problem. A club then has a week to persuade a player to stay or find a suitable replacement. To lose players in bulk & with no notice doesn't benefit clubs one bit.

This is a personal view not a club view but the whole deduction thing doesn't seem right. Ironically the player involved was sent off twice against Bgu in both games (league and cup) which were played over quite a short space of time . In both games he was outstanding for Witham and instrumental in them getting draws (up to leaving the feild). If the long and short is he shouldn't have been on the pitch for one of these games that was unfair on Bgu and surely they should be compensated in some way. Witham have been deducted the point they won but they they won that by feilding an illegible player and so should be awarded no points for the game and then have a deduction. By the same token Bgu may well have taken all 3 points if that player had not played and that should be reflected in the points allocated rather than just keeping what was earned against what was ultimately an unfair advantage for the opposition.

Again I would stress purely a personal view, nothing against Witham as they have been worthy opponents this year and we received a warm welcome at their ground recently. It is unfortunate as I'm sure there was no intent involved but it does seem a bit debatable whever justice has been done. Is there a prescedence set with a similar situation in recent years?.

Flip Flop - what you say makes sense but them the rules and they wont change them. We seem to have a debate about this season after season. At least Witham got penalised. When I was at Bowers a few years ago we played Brentwood and they played an inelible player and were not even penalised. Even though the evidence was there in black and white. Brentwood won the league that year. There is always some sort of mitigating circumstances.

Problem is these days players are registered with 2/3 teams and there is no communication between the clubs. It would be helpful if the FA were to notify every club the player is registered with regarding their suspension.

oh yeah i remember , Callum Foley wasnt it ? cant believe they didnt get any punishment at all for that !

Smalldog weve had the same issue this year mate with people being sent off on a sunday and not telling the club . Once we avoided it by the skin of our teeth as Essex FA phoned our club on the day of the game and said did you know such and such was suspended , and he was due to play .

Agree Smallsy but to be honest I don't know what the rules are, 9 times out of 10 the non offenders are 'punished' by playing stronger opposition than would have otherwise occured so I would have thought it should be quite clear and the non offending team get a winning result. Would probably complain if boot was on the other foot but if team administrators do their job properly there shouldn't be a problem and as you pointed out there are ways of double checking in this day and age. Would imagine there is a case to answer here as a ruling has been made and presumably an appeal procedure was in place.

Needs to be black and white or teams are not playing on a level playing field and system open to deliberate abuse although am not saying this is the case here.

Haha it is true I was Southill Alexander's worst ever Manager. I was also their best ever manager, because I was their ONLY bloody manager.

Funny how they have to have their digs in private & not on here.

Not sure about attracting decent teams to the league quote though.

Just look how many clubs have been promoted over the last 5 years. Hornchurch, Brentwood, Concord, Romford, Waltham Abbey etc had they still been in the ESL that would have been one hell of a league ! Not sure Witham would make top half of that league ! ; - )
