Warlingham 2-3 Farleigh

Indeed choo choo Farleigh with a winner in added time. To be honest and I always am ! Warlingham should have had this game sown up but I dont want to sound like a broken record we missed too many chances.

Wars went 1 down early as the 5th minute but battled back well to level on 15mins. Then a harmless ball into the wars box flies in off a defenders head O.G and Wars 2-1. Wars new signing Rideout equalised for Wars on 35 and then the talking point. Macdiarmid turns in the box and gets pulled down by a Farleigh defender as he is about to shoot from 5 yards referee awards Wars a penalty but only shows yellow to the defender. Wars miss then penalty on 43 mins and at half time 2-2.

Second half wars dominated the early exchanges and had a chance cleared off the line on 48 mins Farliegh battled and were organised but wars had the better chances through out the half but failed to take any. Farleigh missed a glorious chance to score on 75 when the sub blasted over from 10 yards. Wars again found chances were coming their way but no composure in fromt of goal would come to haunt then as on 91 mins a low free kick onto the wars penalty area was met by the farleigh player who tucked it away.

Wars again pushed and a fantastic effort fron Bugden was well saved by the impressive farleigh keeper. Fimal whislte and yet again wars were undone by hard work from Fareigh. The penalty miss and the chances that wars missed have to be converted for Wars to be serious promotion challengers and on tonights performance they were well below that standard.

I thought the referee David Crick was outstanding and certainly one of the best I have had this season along with his 2 assistants. Should he have sent the Farliegh defender off in the first half? In my opinion Yes BUT he had good reasons and I respected his decision when he explained why.

Overall a disappointing night for me and the Warlingham team and they will need to learn that there is no I in team and that team work and hard graft pays off. Saying that Wars dominated the second half and on another night could have won it comfortably.
