End of season walk

I'll definitely be involved for this one, just deciding whether to do the walk or cycle... I'm sure I can get my dad and wife and possibly my mum to join in.

Glen - it was great that your Dad was able to do the first cycle with us. It would be really good if he could do the last too. Suspect he might prefer to run it though!

  • 5 weeks later...

Great. Details will follow re timing etc over the next week or so. I believe Alan Harding has sponsor forms, or will do shortly.

Looks like there will be 20 plus people walking, running, cycling or crawling after the White Horse stop.

I think one of the issues is the leaving time...with people walking, running and cycling, it will take different times, but it would be nice for everyone to start at the same time. I guess it also depends on how long people want to spend in the pub!

As I'm up for running, 7 miles is about 70mins for me at comfortable pace, not sure about other people though!

The plan is for all walkers to leave together. I reckon it is 2 -2.5 hours walking dependant on pace. The lure of the pub is quite attractive to many, so a 10.30 start is proposed.

Runners are welcome to start then and have a longer stop or set their own start time factoring in the pub or not.

Cyclists again can do their own thing.

It would be nice however to get a group picture at WP

Another consideration is how we get back to WP after the game. I can drop my car up to HP before and can ferry back and forth, which if a couple of others could do too would resolve that problem.

I think you can only donate to the nominated charities. Not sure if STST is a registered charity.

We could just balance it out as I reckon most would be collected manually anyway. I will get Ian to have a look at doing a Just Giving page but could be an exercise for a future walk rather than this one given the time

It is just one week away. This time last year we had already set off.

Alan Harding has sponsor forms if you haven't already got one.

The departure time for walkers is 10.30 with a scheduled stop at the White Horse in Hedgerely

I have a route planned for walkers/runners which takes in footpaths and some fields, so please be aware of this when deciding what to wear on your feet.

There is a road route too if anyone would rather, but some of the roads are a bit dodgy.

I will bring the directions along on Monday morning, although it would be nice for us to try to stick together.

If anyone has any queries I will be at the game tomorrow and Saturday,or drop me a line on here.

Kay. I will be leaving Cheltenham at 8.30 so should be there in good time for half ten. Just in case there is a problem on route, any chance you could maybe pm me a mobile number I could call, to get rough walk direections, would then try to catch you up. Thanks

So how many others are running it?

I was thinking of starting from WP at about 12.30 so that I can run up to the White Horse and claim my free drink before running/walking up to HP for the game. Personally I would prefer to keep to the roads as that is where I do my training and it is a pretty straight route, Google Maps says the distance to the pub is 4.6miles, so about 45mins running time for me.

Kay, if you could, would you please email me the route you were planning on doing for the walk so I can have a look? I will drop you a PM with my address.

Claire has decided (mad) that she's now going to run the distance so will be leaving at 12:30 with you, Dan.

Me and Andy have decided that 7 miles is too short so we'll be cycling a convoluted route that will take 40 miles to Holloways Pak!!!
