Spare a thought for those having to do things at the last minute though Smudge. Officials, pitches, programmes and food don't sort themselves. It would be unfair on the league to force a club to play at such short notice if they didn't want to.

Bookham v Guildford City - game postponed Saturday, programmes printed, food bought, Officials a phone call away. Yes I know Dorking have a game but Monday to Thursday available.

Well we're game! Although Monday night might be a little short notice!

We tried to arrange our game for Tuesday but Hartley Wintney declined. Not sure about the rearranged date as it's scheduled for April and our pitch will be ripped up then

By ripped up do you mean cause of wear or because of builders getting ready to build on it or something like that?

Just for a bit of information, fourteen of our twenty-one Premier clubs are in action this midweek, either in the League or various cup competitions. The reason that fewer teams have a league match is partly because the 4th Round of the Premier Challenge Cup is taking place this week. Until quite recently, there were a number of "either/ors" so teams that might have been in it were not scheduled to play as it's a waste of time if games are arranged and then have to be postponed.

We also lost a further match this week because Badshot Lea were originally scheduled to play at home to Cove but the ground was subsequently taken by Godalming for a Ryman match. The same thing happened at Warlingham/Whyteleafe. Guildford City lost their match because their opponents Colliers Wood have to fulfil a previously postponed Surrey Senior Cup match. A further Division One match was also lost when Worcester Park's match was called off. The club had hired Carshalton Athletic but had the booking cancelled at the last minute by Carshalton.

I have no objection whatsoever to postponed matches being quickly re-arranged by the clubs concerned, always subject, of course, to the availability of match officials, which is not generally a problem. This would certainly have applied to Westfield v Hartley Wintney but I don't force clubs to play at less than seven days notice. Neither do I object to matches being brought forward by clubs if they see an opportunity to do so but this has to be by mutual agreement. It is too complicated to go into, in writing, but my general policy in re-arranging postponed games is to look for the first free midweek when both teams are definitely free, but there are other factors that have to be taken into account, such as ground availability. Incidentally we have now had in excess of 200 CCL matches postponed this season and that figure does not include games that have had to be called off to allow a previously postponed County Cup match to be played. Anyone want the job?

If Chessington & Hook v Banstead is off tonight, they have arranged to play on Thursday evening instead and I have asked that all the Tuesday Premier Cup matches are similarly played on Thursday if any are postponed this evening.

It is fair to say there is a fairly full midweek programme for the remainder of the season.

The whole pitch is getting ripped up as it has to be relayed, raised and then laser levelled off in time for August

Thanks for the explanation Whitelaw, alway thought this was the hardest job of the league !! & with the last 2 seasons weather making it more difficult still.

Well done for all your efforts :applaus: :applaus: :applaus:

Quite right - it's hard enough dealing with one club let alone all of them in the league. A difficult task at the best of times made all the more difficult by postponements, cup runs, groundshares etc. Everyone says that without referees we would have no game, but that is equally true for those that organise the fixtures and officials in the first place!

As for any possible Bookham vs Guildford City match, it's a no go unfortunately.

Are these midweek games listed somewhere? I was hoping to get down to see Farnham tonight but the fixture is not on the CCL site nor on the FTFC site (that I can see anyway).

Many thanks for any help here.
