Seriously,are the council serious

In the last couple of weeks our first team, under 18's & under 16's have all been thrown out of Upminster PARK for playing football, well training. Each time they have been approached by police who obviously feel this is a worthwhile way to spend taxpayers money on.

Apparently there is a law which says you cannot play football in the park if you are a club, despite hockey, cricket & tennis all being played there.

Even when one of our officials said that if he just wanted to have a kick about on his own then this would be fine,he was told that not even that was ok,there seems to be a local resident near the park who seems to have swallowed a by law book and uses it,i would suggest she buys a vibrator and uses all the spare time she seems to have on her hands, fckng herself

Kids can't play football in a park. It's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard.

I think the by law needs to be looked at, let's not give busybodies the power to spoil things for other people purely out of spite.

I wonder how this affects youth football teams that train in our parks, we do all we can to get our youth interested in activites away for hanging around on street corners etc. and to be told we can't use the parks for these activites seems to be saying why bother. Just another nail in the coffin of this mad society we now live in.

When I was a Havering resident,I was glad when the litte feckers played over the park, my son played for Gidea Park, I remember them having to spit into two groups as no more than 10 were allowed play in the park.

Mind you if I were still a Havering tax player I would be asking the council where all the seats have gone from my local council owned athletics track?

It seems to stupid to be true, although nothing surprises me about LBH these days. Might be an idea if someone from the club speaks to Councillor Linda Hawthorne who probably understands the needs of a non league club more than most, and is approachable, and very good at sorting out problems in the Upminster area.

But it's a public park, everyone grew up playing football over there

The cricket club have a specific area and a clubhouse, the hockey club have their own area but there are lots of other areas where football can be played, like the small football pitch they were playing on

I am not arguing with you mate, a just explaining that you listed the Cricket and Hockey Clubs (amongst others) and am therefore informing you that

they pay a substantial amount to use the pitches etc. As I say, not arguing either way mate.

What happened to the area up the hill behind the car park at the Stadium??

Would it not be worth the club trying to buy a decent mower and a roller and work on it so that can be used?? Maybe something for your supporters group to work towards funding?? I can pass you details on some other funding bodies who may be able to help out with grants and donations.

As I said earlier, its a rule that I have never heard of before, and clubs use Harrow Lodge all the time, so perhaps a word with a local councillor could help.

It also has to be said though that we have lots of junior matches at HL park and it very often the case that a terrible mess is left behind because parents and others are too bone idle to put their litter in the bins provided. I hate to imagine what sort of adults these young players will become if they follow the example of their slobbish parents.

Trust me mate, if you want to do it they will allow you to. Cricket wickets used to be council responsibility in the Parks, but due to the awful service

they provide all they now do is cut the outfield (whrn they do the rest of the park) and mark the boundary. If the Club (AFC) wanted to work with that land I am sure they would let you.

Sure they would but to be honest I think they prefer training in the park or on the pitch when it's playable, keeping the pitch up to playing standard is hard enough in the winter months, can't imagine they would want to do the top bit as well, especially as it is used by everyone else
