Slough vs Ashford - Inspection @ 11.15

Very frustrating. Going to be a manic run in now. I appreciate the pitch will be waterlogged but back in the 70s matches were dumped in sand and played in bogs. Was this not an option?

You ask Nat Lofthouse if that pitch was playable. I'll tell you what he'd have said...

Sadly not in this day and age. Whilst I wasn't at the ground myself, I am reliably informed the pitch had standing water all through the middle, so not a chance.

With the amount of standing water in the middle of the pitch (considering the areas substrate is sand - the two big gravel locations either side of the ground - i.e. the tip along side of the M40 and the current excavations between Beaconsfield and Woburn) it looks like the work done to the pitch in the summer has had a negative effect on drainage.

Or is there to be a change to the sporting nature of the SYCOB lido?
