Bateman's view of SYCOB's pitch

Interesting. Some of our posters seem all too ready to moan about the state of the pitch, but I dont recall seeing them helping out when we had

the work parties in the summer. Same old story guys, its easy to moan on here about things but putting yourself out takes a little more effort does it not?

If that was aimed at me I specifically texted Gary on Saturday morning when I knew the game was in doubt to ask whether he wanted any help. I was quite prepared to spend a few hours of my Saturday at Holloways Parkwith a fork trying to help to get the game on. Unfortunately it looks like pitch is already well forked!

WR, not too sure where the corrolation is between moaning about the state of the pitch and the Summer work parties.

The Summer work parties are organised to do jobs around the ground like painting, weeding, sweeping etc. If every supporter turned up for the summer work parties it would not have made a blind bit of difference to the current state of the pitch. Or is it that only people who turned up for the summer work parties are entitled to moan about the pitch?

RR: my point is that it is easy to moan about things, but a lot harder actually get out and do things.. As Chris S. stated. Beaconsfield have two elderly

groundsmen who are part-time,. so you are not going to get a bowling green surface, no matter what we have/have not paid for the pitch. And as for

going back to Windsor I have never heard something so ridiculous, especially after our last tenure there. So I believe its a case of put up with the

pitch until we get our own.

Regardless of whom paid what to who and who failed to look after the pitch after however many teams have played on it, there is only one important question - when will we get our own ground and have our own fate in our own hands?

The last update on the ground on 12th Feb 2011 stated the club would "be in a position to provide another update following next weeks meeting" - no update.

The original timetable quoted that if all went well, was that the ground would be open in 2011, if there were delays the target would move to early 2012.

Does anyone have a realistic update on these dates and what season is it anticipated we might start playing at the new ground?

Personally if we are only putting in the planning application now I cannot see us in the new ground before the 2013/2014 season.

That means we need to squat for at least another 2 more seasons - not something I am looking forward to either with the state of Sycob's pitch or at the flee pit called stag meadow.

Yes, it would be nice to hear something.

Well the pitch not being up to standard could go part way to explaining the difference in home and away performances.

Anyway, since the season isn't over that's a hypothetical question and quite rightly hasn't been brought up yet.

...........and please state what is wrong with ground sharing at Windsor? If the excuse is there's no covered accommodation behind the goal then that's an extremely lame one. There's no covered accommodation along the sides at Beaconsfield, but there is at Windsor - you win some you lose some.

I should think the good folk of a new Windsor club would be very pleased to welcome us back, especially as they would benefit greatly from the extra income.

It would be easier for supporters to get to Windsor too so arguably we would increase our attendances a little.

So is the pitch better there? It's looked pretty good recently.

Its not cut and dry yet ..that Windsor will get themselves sorted out..so we can not start dialogue until we are sure they are back in business !

we really hope they do .get themselves sorted

...but its to early to even think about it...

it might not even be an option.

So if we stay at Beaconsfield next season, can we look to help them out in the summer...or will it be left to the few again.. ?

Bernie Grogan: no one in their right mind would pay money to Windsor after what they did with our and Bedfonts money last time around. Let me

give you an example: if you went to a shop and got ripped off once, would you go back and get ripped off again?

So you know it's going to be the same people running the club do you? Explain how they "ripped us off", and how we would allow them to do the same again.

I ask this because we are in the position where we at least have a choice about where we could play and Windsor is an option.

I dont know whether or not its the same people running their club this time, not then neither do you. As for ripping us off, how about the quality

pitch they promised as with the money we were giving them, but in reality it turned out no better than Beaconsfield's, do you not remember that?

Remember the tramlines down the middle, hardly a masterpiece of ground technology was it?

So it looks like no one has a clue about when the ground is going to get built, it will just keep on ticking away in a "professional and diligent manner".

The ground was planned to be ready for the olympics - it still may be - London 1948 - London 2012 - London 2076?

Having been homeless since summer 2003 it is now becoming painful and that is why I am worried the longer this drags on for, the less likley that a new ground will be completed.

Martyn Deaners grand plans alienated so many and I am sure have contributed to the delays the current plans are experiencing.

I have full faith in Steve Easterbrooks commitment to the club and the new ground project, but it would be nice to see a roadmap of where we are going, along with the hurdles to overcome. This will help to bring on board everyone in the club and in the community who have an intrest in this very positive development for the town, to get right behind it and see it progress. This will then help people to more clearly understand the reasons why there are delays and hold those who try to block the plans to account.

Clive I am sure Steve will release some new soon...

I know the meeting took place last Thursday and all were present ..will take a proper sit down and plan this project , which I am sure will have include

a local consultation period , along with outline planing...hang in there ... Steve like to ensure things are written down before he makes any kind of statement..

I didn't say that I know anything about Windsor's new regime. We were no more "ripped off" then than we are now, so where's the difference? The current pitch at BSYCOB is hardly a masterpiece either. Fact is in both cases too much football led to the poor state. Yes I will agree poor management of finances at Windsor probably didn't help with the maintenance of the pitch even back then.

We do not need to prejudice our chances anywhere by judging on the past, that's my point.

Anyway I've no problem with Stag Meadow unlike some on this forum.
