I wouldn't like summer football,I like to go away a fair bit from may to august and many families are the same, this taken in to account would probably have more of an effect in dropping crowds.

As for ageing fans, not too sure that's the problem either, last night wasn't particularly cold and this is a problem we have had in mid September

While the idea of watching footy with a cold beer in the sun appeals, there are so many other factors like players holidays, many players have kids who like to go on summer holidays, you will have players coming and going all summer and clubs won't like it

As most clubs have biggish squads a few players on holiday shouldn't make too much difference, and the better pitches should mean less injuries. An experiment with summer football for one season, with participating clubs still playing in the cups, to give all year income, might be worth trying.

May be worth trying but to be honest the best teams have stability in their squads, not chopping and changing every five minutes,as a fan that would drive me mad.

Plus, over the 6 weeks holiday so many people go away that it would seriously affect the gates, some people like to watch every game, the 6 weeks holiday falls at the right time for football fans

Another factor would be playing at 3pm on a Saturday when the temp is above 25c,not nice for players and I doubt the fans would enjoy it too much

A winter break wouldn't work either IMO as it's hard to define when our worst periods of weather would be between November and march

While it may seem like a good idea, it would be almost impossible to implement and would need all Leagues at a certain level to be doing it.

If the season ran from say, March till October, the players contracts would be written for that lenght of time. So what happens if a Club (like Hornchurch for instance) got through to the First round of the FA Cup which is in November?? When would cup compteitions take place, how would it fit in with higher or lower levels, etc?? While I think it is a nice idea, I am not sure the logistics of it would work.

Whether it would increase crowds I don't know?? People do other things in the summer, holidays etc, play or watch other sports such as cricket, and a host of other things. Personally I am not sure it would really have an affect. Besides, I am more old school, I prefer wrapping up warm, getting a burger and a bovril and watching a game under the lights in January or February!!

I actually suggested playing Saturday evenings and not 3pm, although topping up the tan while watching footie might not be such a bad idea.
