ARTIFICIAL PITCHES

point one to be answerd : why cant non league football clubs reintoduce artifical pithces , more training can be done , matches wont be called off , more income from private hire , not many league clubs look at players from our divisions as to the surfaces we play on ,

point two : playinging surfaces can be changed if there is likelyhood of division two promotion

point three : some aspects of the long ball game might be surpassed by passing game on a nice surface winter games are here to stay .

point three : pitch management must be easier weeding, cutting, watering,

Good question, I think there is a Scottish Division 2 or Division 3 side that has an artifical pitch, and like you state, more income from private hire (which I think they do every day other than match days).

Think you are spot on in saying that teams would have to adopt a passing game rather than the hoof it upfield approach!

You'll still get games called off, even if the pitch is playable, for some reason, with the slightest sprinkle of snow, the Health and Safety boys tell us the streets are too dangerous to walk!

Interesting idea though!

R, the newer artificial pitches are quality mate...they bounce and roll just like the real thing and believe it or not you can slide tackle without the use of chavy jogging bottoms too as well as use proper boots - long term this would be a great idea.

Maidstone United hope to install an artificial pitch at their new stadium, and I believe they hope the income from the pitch will help finance the rest of the building costs.

How much do these pitches cost and how long do they last

The cheapest quote I had was for about £300,000, the most expensive £700,000, and they are expected to last about ten years. The samples that were sent to me wasn't particularly impressive, and they are only really all weather if you also include under-soil heating, which makes it even more unaffordable.
