That's a very good point, Chubby. It's hard to believe that for every album they were ever a song short or that this was the best they could come up with. Come to think of it his drumming wasn't the best either. So why was he even in the band. Discuss.

I was talking about Oasis last night at the game, and a drunken John Farmer said, "Oi. Oasis. W*nkers," and went on to explain that Oasis just aren't original.

 

So I asked him to name a band who he personally likes, that are entirely original.

 

He thought for about three minutes, and came back with "Travis".

I saw an interview with Gary Kemp once, and he really was trying to convince everyone that Spandau were entirely cutting edge and original. "Before we came about," he claimed, "there was nothing around quite like Chant No.1."

Ringo might have a nasal 'no-voice', and his drumming might not be the best in the world, (there's a pun there, somewhere !), but he's a LUVVLY bloke to meet !

Hey! Dissing Ringo's singing and songs is okay, but leave his drumming out of it, for the love of God. I don't think the songs would have quite sounded the same without his backing. Check out the subtlty of the drums on 'A Day in the Life'-you can't argue with that!Plus Alan White from Oasis has 'bigged him up' on occasions, which is all the convincing I need.

Well said Chubbs, but I reckon it all depends on your taste in style of drumming.

 

I happen to rate Phil Collins, but then again, he is a bit of a 'basher'.

 

Carmen Appice, who drummed for Rod Stewart on the Foolish Behaviour tour of some yeas ago was something else !!!!!!!!!!!!! Had to go and see the show twice. (And stood next to Alana at the back, next to the sound consul on one of the occasions [color:"red"] W-O-W ! [color:"blue"] Fantastic [color:"black"] , even in the flesh, so to speak.)

I remember going to a U2 gig a couple of years back and Kelis was the support, needless to say she was fking awful, but the drummer was a great deal more entertaining to watch.

 

As for Ringo, leave the guy alone, didn't he narate Thomas The Tank Engine??

Yeah, not convinced about that, Zimmo. Leave history as it is, to be honest.

 

It's well documented that McCartney never like what Phil Spector did to that album, but bloody hell. Leave it alone. Doubt I'll buy it.

 

Just hope he doesn't start fking around with any of the other albums now too.

 

P.S. Despite all this, I still believe that Macca is a god, and is the most underrated (despite all the knighthood's etc.) musical genius of the century. People are far to quick to shout "The Frog Chorus", but forget the beauty of Here There And Everywhere, Eleanor Rigby, Maybe I'm Amazed, For No-One... (the list goes on. And on)

Was quite impressed by Motley Crue's Tommy Lee playing the drums with him and drum kit strapped into a metal frame that was suspended from the ceiling, and that span at high speed and at all angles while he played, but I guess I'm just showing my age now. Girls Girls Girls tour I think it was. Smokin' in the Boys Room. Thye don't make em like that anymore.
