Suppose we'll now be accused of performing a rain-dance?

WTF? It stopped raining at 11am, thought it'd dry out enough in 4 hours.

Is anyone off to another game??

Long way from Hastings, they would have had to leave at 1130 latest

The right decision was made, bearing in mind it is still raining.we cleared the worst area but unfortunately there were not enough of us to clear the other areas in time before the referee got there.I believe the referee could of given us the option of delaying it till the match official got there, but if he then called it off we would be stuck with a few hundred pound coach bill from Hastings.

As it's still raining it was the right decision but even now,if it stopped raining I think with a few hands on deck the water could be cleared.Unfortunatly the club are in a no win situation because of the rules, had there not been the charge to consider I think the club may of thought about trying to clear all the water but as it's still raining now it may prove to be the right decision.

For me,something has to change, the last few winters have been bad and more matches are called off every season, and by the looks of it,it will just get worse.I think it has completely spoiled the league this year, something has to be done.Had the rain stopped ten minutes after the referee had left this morning,we would of done everything possible to clear the pitch but the rule regarding the payment of the oppositions coach leaves us with little option for this,it's too big a risk to take for a club of our size. This time tomorrow, the sun will be out and it will be upto 12c,should the league be looking at rescheduling games at short notice in extreme weather???

Something has to be done though as clubs are already struggling without not having games on Saturdays when the crowds are at their best .

I think the rule saying the home club must pay the travelling expenses if their opponents travel and the game is then called off should be abolished.

The league should pay the club's travel.

So many games seemed to be called off too early giving clubs little chance to get people in to clear and prepare the pitch.

This season has been farcical and just hasn't really got going at all. With this weather, it makes getting a season ticket a risky and a potentially money losing decision as if games get called off, there is no guarantee people will be able to make the rescheduled fixture especially if it's a Tuesday night when work and other activities get in the way.

In this economic climate, people cannot afford to lose money on their season tickets so if they can't get to every game, they will inevitably stop buying them.

Wise words yellow, going out with an urchin has obviously rubbed off on you.

On another point,Hornchurch could well be fined for the floodlight failure last Tuesday, even though the council have admitted liability,at the same time, they won't take into account that the club tried there hardest to get the game on when it comes to fining us for Tuesday

Probably already been considered within the club but we should seek to pass onto the Council any fine we face if it could have been avoided by an earlier notification tha the floodlights couldn't have been fixed in time. Even if its just a proportion of the fine being offset against our rental payments that should help.

It was nothing to do with the rain. The inspecting Referee did not feel that the game could be played around the marquee that had been erected on the pitch for the function on Saturday evening. We said we would open the side flaps but he wasn't having any of it.

The standard of refs is lacking these days - I mean with all these fellow europeans coming over here, he should have been used to a few poles on the pitch.
