Loved the line

"2.7 Both the new planning application, and the grant of a long lease would necessitate, separate public consultation processes. Enabling local people to have their say. In terms of asset disposals the Council has a consistent track record of listening to views of the local communities."

What utter boll#cks

With regards to who to speak to try Natalie Beldin on 01843 577020 quoting 10/0115

I know Natalie as she is my lease manager on my commercial unit, very approachable and cant imagine her being in any way biased.

Thanks for posting that link.

It does make things a lot clearer, for example that it is not so much the reduction in size of the hotel that is causing a problem, but rather the fact that the new plan is for a separate hotel not attached to the stand, plus the issue of extending the lease beyond 25 years.

The only information I had seen until now was the club's statement, which did not mention these things.

Two bits of info that should have been mentioned surely?

A couple of points

Can we see publicly the list of 500 signatures with names and addresses? Interested to see where the signatures live.. if local etc...

Would it prudent for someone (with time on their hands) to sit at the proposed sites were the artifiacal pictches are going and monitor over a few days how many people actually walk/use this part of the park, might be of use...

But the short cut across the park is no-where near where the new pitch will be. In fact where the golf course used to be there is now nothing & no-one walks that part of the park where all this is going to be.The greenland that is left is more than ample for peoples pleasures & well away from the site of the new pitch.

I know the developer will have acess to the names but not addresses, which I'm sure will be reassuring to those people that sign our petition.

As for the hotel, my understanding is that the hotel and east stand will share a comon wall - but that can be clarified at Wednesday's public meeting. The hotel always was a separate application to the north stand and 3G pitch - which were approved at the same time. The lease was always subject to due process between the club and council and had not at the time we released the statement been finalised so be assured that nothing untoward has been kept from supporters.

The Travelodge hotel plans do not call for a diferent use to the permission already granted for a hotel in the same location, just for a smaller (footprint) and lower building which of course will have a smaller impact than the larger hotel would have had. And the developer has no intention of changing use to / ading a casino - just in case there is any concern.

human nature I'm afraid some people don't like change and those people have probably never even walked in the park apart from letting their dogs s..t on the grass or taking a short cut to the seafront

And how many signing your petition have seen a game at your ground ?

An irrelevant comment from Sanderson unless he wants to stack up all the people that over 6 months signed the petition against the development who have never stepped inside Hartsdown Park or taken the trouble to understand the development, against the (literally) hundreds of people that have signed the petition in favour of the development within a week!

But one of the key issues with the propopsed development is the community aspect.

Hunderds of children have already benefitted from free school use of the existing 5's and the Margate Learning Zone. Given the current public spending squeeze, who is going to pay for these type of facilities in the future? We're seeing a lot of support from the parents of children who currently use the facilities at the club and of those who stand to benefit from free use via their schools in future. And these children come from right across Thanet; not just Margate.

And I'm sure the new jobs the development will create would come from across the island and not just from Margate!

Very good points there Steve. People, including myself, may have forgotten the effect that the learning zone has had on the hundreds of children who have benefitted from the club, which also has a knock on effect on their families as well.
