Pitch Inspection @ Woodford - 0915

Following a deluge of rain since last night which has continued into this morning, there will be a pitch inspection at 9:15am at Woodford to assess the situation. I'll post on here once the outcome is known.

Just been on the Met offices web site and it looks like the back end of the band of rain has cleared, and there should be no more rain today.

 

Its now down to how well Woodfords pitch drains

Due to the sheer amount of volume of rain which has fallen in the past twelve hours or so, the pitch is nearly underwater and as a result has been postponed.

I've spoken with Ian and relayed the bad news already.

At this point in time there are 4 other games off - Ashford, Barton, Leighton and North Greenford.

 

Looks like there will be a lot of Tuesday games coming up and even a few Thursdays.

Sorry, it looks like we're a jinx!! Last time I was highly suspicious of the Daventry postponement as it didn't seem cold enough to warrant it whereas this time it was VERY wet! We'd got as far as Wycombe centre when Gary phoned me and although very wet and quite cold we were making good progress and were probably ahead of schedule.

 

We decided on the way home to take in one of Wycombe's steepest hills, the one leading up to Highcrest School for those that know it, just because! We all made it to the top then came back down and headed for home through the puddles/lakes before Andy suffered a puncture just the other side of Burnham!! We'd done about 25 very wet miles and taken in two BIG hills by the time we got home.

 

At least I've learned today that my waterproof trousers are actually water resistant, NOT waterproof! Just about thawed out.

With Bartons home game being called off today what's the chance of Tuesdays game being cancelled with more rain forecast.

If there is any doubt surely Barton will have a pitch inspection early enough before the players and supporters coach leave and will be posted on Slough's and Barton's website?

No idea about Barton's website, but any news would be posted here and on our website. The timing of the inspection is, of course, not in our hands!
