Billericay 3 Hastings 0

Recommended Posts

I can't believe no one has posted already! A first half header from Micah Hyde followed by second half goals from substitutes Shawn Beveney and Ryan O'Rawe saw us through to a comfortable victory and up to fifth place. This Beveney looks like he could be a great capture if he stays for a few weeks.(Jason Hibbert was missing last night on trial at Gillingham). The down side was a gate of only 203.

Got sloppy after going 1up and allowed Hastings a chance to get back into it. Finished strongly and could've been 5 or 6 at the end. Back in the play-off mix, something I didn't think was possible just a few weeks ago, so hats off to both management and players.

Unfortunately another dire attendance, sign of the times me thinks with the footballing public obsessed with the Premiership and Euro league.

I only got to see the second half, and although we were 1 up, was a bit worried to watch Hastings getting into the game, we were pulling back to defend the mid field and it was difficult to break forward, a 'game saving' save from Ashley Jones about 15 mins in, could have given Hastings the push, but eventually we got it together and for the last 20 minutes played a really good team game and got our second which deflated their spirit, great that we kept on the pressure for a 3rd and the score line could have been 5 nil !!.

Well done all :applaus:

I thought we started brightly going 1 up with a well worked goal before they came back into it. Jones made a couple of excellent saves, one in each half to preserve the lead and a couple of nicely taken goals late on made it comfortable in the end.

Up to 5th now which is a decent achievement from all concerned, especially considering the awful start to 2011 we had. Some sides around us have games in hand but I'd prefer the points in the bag at this stage of the season.

Another excellent result and 9 points from these three home games without conceding a goal is a fantastic effort.

On the night I thought we started very well and could (should?) have been three up in the first 15 minutes. However, once we scored we took our foot off the gas and Hastings got back into it. A glimpse through the programme tells you all you need to know about the positive impact that Ashley Jones has had on our results and last night was no different. He's still a young lad (especially in goalkeeping terms). Hopefully, he will commit his short term future to us and if he continues to improve, who knows where he could go after that.

Second half we asserted again and the substitutions added even more impetus. Well done to Shawn and Ryan for getting on the scoresheet. In the end, I don't think there can be any doubt that it was the right result. Well done lads!! On the subject of substitutions I was surprised they took Matt Hall off, who I thought was their best player.

As for the crowd, we do seem to have been unlucky to have so many Tuesday home games this year, this coupled with crap weather, general skintness and the dreaded Chumpions League on TV certainly hasn't helped. I wish I knew the answer. We're not alone, but it would be good if we could get a few more in.

The weather certainly hasn't helped the pitch either. I know Mick and his gang have been working really hard to get it into any kind of condition...and then it rains. Come on rain Gods, give us a chance!!

Tough game Saturday, Cray were one of the better sides I have seen this season (on the pitch anyway  ) and we will need to be at our best to get anything.

Come on you Blues!!

Great result last night. MOTM has to be Ashley Jones, he is really coming into some fine form and his confidence is there for all to see.

Dreadfully dissapointing gate, but in the state the economy is in, it really is no suprise that so many people can no longer attend because they simply just can't afford the £9 or £9.50 admission fee on a weekly basis. I will try searching for any solutions and will post them on here. I will of course continue to spread the warm feeling of our club to my work colleagues!dance%20(2).gif

COYB! keep it up, onwards to cray!

Ashlee has the potential to be a very good keeper, but look what happened last time, a big club threw out a lure and Ash got hooked only to be released a few days later. Then without a club he makes a bad move for him and joins Boreham Wood, they have a torrid time, Ashlee is released. and he goes full circle and ends up back with us.

This is just my opinion, but I think Ashlee needs to settle, be that with us or someone else, if he keeps moving on every time he hits a good run of form he'll end up a typical non-league journeyman who could have done better..

Like Top Cat i just got there with 10 mins left of the 1st half. But the difference is that i always worry when its 1 - 0

I agree the keeper by a mile was MOTM but a great team effort, I was impressed with the subs who had the desired effect on the Hastings

I'm not sure of the name of our last sub but he was so close to scoring well done applaus.gif

Fair play to Mick and the team for making the pitch playable applaus.gif applaus.gif

Who'd have thought 5th place after the blip of January. Well done Craig & Co
