Are we at a disadvantage???

Eastside Urchin

Recommended Posts

Today's defeat has got me thinking, are we at a disadvantage at home when it comes to the running track and not having stands behind the goals.

Billericay seemed a different side shooting towards the large following behind the goal second half today

At Sutton on Tuesday it was the same second half

At tonbridge earlier in the season we got done first half with a large following behind one goal

Kingstonian same

Just seems that some teams fans can get their players up for it that little bit more,we don't have the numbers on the eastside or away behind goals that we used to.I would of thought today we could of took 120 plus to ricay and created a good atmosphere but the truth of the matter is that there was probably 35 of us behind the goal and another 30 odd around the ground

I think so too,i remember the eastside in it's heyday,it may not of been behind the goal but it was an intimidating place to be for away teams, now it is virtually dead, not too sure if there is anything we can do about it for now, personally as much as I love the bridge I would love to see us playing in a proper football ground with good acoustics, somewhere like tonbridge but we simply don't and probably will never have the money to do so

well we had many a blinding result at the bridge so probably not, i meen if darren had a group of away fans barracking him and shoutin on there team in the process maybe the bridge would not be such a fortress, it depends on wot hornchurch turns up on the day

I remember about a year ago being public enemy number one in the dark side of Havering for suggesting in the Romford Recorder that AFCH and Romford enter into a ground share agreement, and then ask the LBH to consider selling Bridge Avenue for development to fund a brand new stadium and a separate athletics facility in another part of the borough.

In view of government cuts, and the likelihood of LBH funding improvements to the your ground less than zero, I still think it an idea worth considering.

Yes but you suggested it and not us lol

Difference is that we know that there is little or no chance of us either moving from bridge avenue or either changing the stands and to be honest we can all dream about new stadiums but I am pretty sure that everyone is happy with the bridge for the foreseeable future.I think Hornchurch fans took exception to your comment that the bridge wasn't a pleasant place to watch football, which it is

I dont think we are disadvantaged having a running track and no stands behind the goal - there was a period a few seasons ago when bridge ave was a fortress (i think we held a record at some point for least amount of losses at home in as season??) fact of the matter is we are now looking at excuses week in week out to why we keep losing.

We had a fantastic run of results but seem to have hit a brick wall of late - our strikers don't look like scoring, our midfield has no pace/legs and our defence is leaking more goals then I can ever remember. Luckily for us all the teams around us are slipping up too otherwise we would have kissed goodbye to the play offs a long time ago.

Lets hope we turn up on Tuesday and get the very important 3 points which we desperately need.

On reflection saying your ground wasn't a pleasant place to watch football was uncalled for, although to be fair I am not the first person to have said it, and wont be the last. Have to say though, that the nice clubhouse and welcoming atmosphere go a long way in making a visit to Bridge Avenue a lot more pleasant than it otherwise would be, because of the running track.

Kims, I think you are dead right, lets stop this love in with runford right now, because there is never going to be a ground share with them either at The Bridge or anywhere else, its not going to happen.

We all go throught bad patches its the nature of football, even supporters go through them, as for me we realy miss Micheal Spencer, get him back and I think we will be more than half way there to getting back on track.

Keep the faith and that includes me .....................

Lol dave, believe me,the last thing I want is a groundshare with Romford,it was merely an observation with regards to the last couple of away games lol

To be fair I don't think there's too much support for a groundshare in either camp, and I may well be in a minority of one. I do though still believe that for small clubs like ours, sharing the costs in running a stadium could be the only way to survive.
