Rebels 3 Aylesbury 2

Pretty turgid first half where we trailed 1-0 at the break. Bully won't be happy with his contribution for the opening goal.

Second half was better. We equalised but they re-took the lead from kick-off. I expected that to kill our morale but we came back to equalise before Burnell's injury time winner.

Very much a game of two halves where Aylesbury were rightly deserving of the 1-0 at half time as we had just not got going.

Secong half was far better with some spirit and determination to get a result. Simon Martin coming on made a major improvment to the shape of the team and way in which we played.

A very important 3 points to keep us in the challenge for a playoff place which has now got very tight.

Next week against Woodford will be critical to either killing off their chances of getting in the chase or us slipping out of the chase.

Disappointed again to see us picking up cards for decent - will certain players ever learn to keep their mouths shut? Bateman needs to clamp down on this hard as it totally undermines the other good work that has been achieved.

Good sign that we don't play well and win, probably deserve that in the case that there's been games this season where we deserved more and came away with nothing.

Thought there were two key turning points when Simon Martin came on, and when their captain was forced off injured - that certainally helped matters as we hardly created a chance before then.

Missed Coyne and Sincs energy massively in midfield today I thought, but it's great to win, especially in the last minute. Big game at Woodford Saturday.

A very important result with Rugby losing and Aylesbury still 2 games behind us. Not our best game but in the last 20 minutes we started to make the possession count.

Burnell put in a lot of effort today, covering large areas of the pitch, and I thought Murphy had a good game too. A shame about the first goal but these things happen. I thought we controlled most of the game, but didnt really create much until the last 20mins or so when the goal rush came.

The obvious delight of the players and fans was great to see at the final whistle. Hopefully we can use the next few games to cement a place in the playoffs. We need to make sure we complete the passes and create the chances though!

Well done Rebels!

We played poorly for 3/4 of the game and still showed the tenacity and determination to win, no doubt helped by some rollickings at half-time.

We had to chase the game and when SB made the substitutions changing the formation and playing with 3 up front with Burnell, Sonner and Martin was, for me, the turning point in the game.

Who said SB didn't have a plan B?

Now for another Toughie at Woodford.

Was very impressed with Woozley, wasn't expecting all that shouting and talking. I guess I'm not used to it think it brought a better game out of Perkins today too.

Fair play to Steve Bateman for making the changes and the introduction of Martin changed things for Slough. I'm not too sure on Seeby in midfield, he looked a bit lost there but I thought today showed how much we missed Coyne and his creativity. Aylesbury had Slough overrun there and Burnell was having to drop very deep to get the ball and try and make things.

If it wasn't for Steve Smith making a couple of clangers I think Aylesbury could have easily ground out a result as they looked pretty solid. The loss of their captain Stevens seemed to shake them up a bit too.

in fairness although for much of the game we didn't play all that well Aylesbury did not exactly destroy us. they barely had a chance in the game and we gifted them the opening goal obviously. other than that and the 2nd goal which was caused due to us not having a right midfielder at the time seemingly had Bully in any trouble

game was dull and devoid of much chances at all till the frantic last 15 minutes or so

the determination and celebrations showed me for sure that the players are more than capable and commited to getting in those playoffs and im sure if we show the battle we did towards the end today we will make it

While pleased to get the win, there is no doubt we stole the points today. Sonner could easily have seen red for his booking and Burnell's winner certainly looked like the keeper was fouled. That said, the spirited comeback at going 2-1 down was encouraging. If the players can cut out the needless dissent and start playing from the start of the match, we'll be a strong contender for the playoffs.

As for Bully, he'll know he messed up with the opening goal, but on this occasion it hasn't cost us. He is a quality keeper and hopefully will show today's blunder was a one off.

For long periods today we struggled against a team that just did simple things well. They were well organised and passed the ball simply. Nothing more. I sometimes think we try and be too clever, especially on a bog of a pitch like today.

That said, a great come back after the disappointment of conceding straight after equalising. I thought we'd go on to concede another.

The only booking for decent was Swift's I think. Sonner got a booking for a clash of heads and Murphy's was when he clipped a player accidentally (both very soft). Can't remember what Seeby's was for but I certainly don't think 2, possibly 3 of them were even deserving of yellows.

Swift was told by the ref not to swear at him again when he disputed a corner. He swore at the ref after the opening goal and so was booked.

Seeby talked his way into the book too.

Sonner's 'clash of heads' was a late late deliberate challenge. I imagine his elbow hurt more than his head from my angle.

I think we struggle against teams who have the players who can close us down very quickly and don't allow us time to play our neat passing game which has happened a few times this season.

I also think that a heavy, boggy uneven pitch does not suit our style of play which, unfortunately, is what we have at Beaconsfield at the moment.

Fortunately, Aylesbury could not keep up their workrate for the full 90 minutes which allowed us to get at their defence.

Aylesbury were no different to Woodford, Daventry, Rugby, Bedfont, against all of whom we didn't register 3 points. As I remember it those games weren't great spectacles either and it seems to be the way teams set themselves up in this league, particularly away from home. Check the away records of the aforementioned and they are all pretty good, so today's result is a massive improvement for us. Grinding out such results is what we've not been good at all season.

The other factor is indeed the pitch, from memory crosses by Porter, Murphy, Sonner, Swift, Sweeney all suffered from the pitch .

I would like to add that in the last 6 League games (which Sonner and Burnell have started together upfront) they have scored 12 goals which goes to show that they are probably our best attacking partners this season.

Also SB now has a plan B - Simon martin and going 433

Well done to the management team for changing to the 4-3-3 formation, which led to those last 20 minutes of great atmosphere, and the covered fans chanting like in seasons past.

I've just been on the Aylesbury site and they stated before the match that "Aylesbury go into the match undefeated in the league since the last time the two sides met back in November."

Well the last twenty minutes were great if nerve jangling. When they retook the lead immediately after our equaliser it seemed it was going to be the same old story. But we never gave up, rode our luck and grabbed a much need three points. Hopefully this will be a bit of a monkey off our backs as we've turned a losing position around against one of the better teams.

When we went three up top it made a real difference. Simon Martin had a storming game. Well done Rebels.
