Really enjoyed the spat children but when you resort to abuse you are losing the argument!!.

I AGREE WITH PRIDDERS RE WILSON!

.He has been a revelation this season having decided that to make a difference he has to put his foot in as well as be creative and i would have started him.Whilst the accepted theory is never change a winning team i would say that even though tuesday was a good all round performance, the weak link in the middle was Pinnock.I feel the game passes him by in the middle and the same was true on saturday. We are lucky that rogers is playing out of his skin at the moment and has been my MOM for the last 3 games. Also Groombridge has slotted in very well beside him albeit deeper and does alot of unsung work cutting out the supply which is why the defence has looked so strong recently.I fear those two are doing Pinnocks running hence we tire towards the end and sit deeper.

A very valid point was made earlier re the training regime and i would be interested to know what it consists of and whether everyone attends. There is really no excuse for the lads not to be fit. However, if they are being left to self manage their fitness it is not surprising.

One other factor to bear in mind was the pitch which was like a local park.Howver , that said it was the same for both teams and we started both halfs like it was Canvey all over again!!

Will say no more than this. With Wilson we played and lost, since his injury we have performed better and lost fewer, I think we can afford to leave him out unless suspensions or injury dictate otherwise. Amen

Can I just really stick my wooden spoon into this conversation and say that maybe Welford shoud be dropped and try Pinnock and Bradbrook up front. In my humble opinion (and I am only a girl, so what do I know about football or the offside rule!!) Pinnock plays much better up front. So with Welford unable to find the back of the net, why not give it a try???

Think that is very harsh on wilson! cant see he was personally to blame for any losses! We all see different things when watching the same game and hence this forum.

I agree re Marsden but Rogers has been better and far more effective since he moved inside!

Groombridge has really grown into his position. In my view Pinnock is far more effective up front so maybe now is the the time to give Welford a rest and move him up front with Brdadbrook and see how they gel!

Mainly because Welford still gives us 110% IMO BB64 and once he rediscovers his scoring touch, all will be well.

By the way welcome to the forum, good to have a female on here for a change (MummyBunny doesnt count ;) )

Just swap them round and see what happens

I would not argue that Welford gives 110%, but there is no point in doing that unless he is scoring goals, which is why he is in the team as a centre forward. My point is just to give him a rest and try the Bradbrook/Pinnock combination, because Pinnock in midfield does not seem to be working.

Thanks for the welcome :welcome:

Our best midfielder this season was Marsden.

I agree with that 100%, although I think Rogers has been oustanding lately.

As for the Welford/Pinnock debate - I like both players and I think with Shaun it's a confidence issue at the moment (the 1 on 1 against Billericay typified that as an in-form Welford eith passes past the keeper into the bottom corner or drills it low, as it was, he had too much time to think about it and put it at a nice height for the keeper). He's been unlucky not to get on the scoresheet, however, he's primarily in the side to score goals - and missed chances have a habbit of coming back to haunt. His work rate is admirable but he shouldn't be sprinting back into wide areas after a full back in the last quarter of the game - We've supposed to have 5 in the middle and making the pitch narrower when we haven't got the ball - he should be conserving some of that energy.

I think Bradbrook & Welford are starting to gel, so therefore should be your starting front two in the preferred system, at the moment. Pinnock could be used as an impact substitute either as a straight replacement for either for a multitude of reasons one normally uses a sub (but we all know IOC doesn't like subs) - Or if we are chasing a game we could do something 'Oh My God' radical and give the opposition something different to think about and bring pinnock on as part of a front three - but that would constitute IOC switching to a plan B, which we all clearly know he hasn't got!

After 3 weeks out with illness and only returning to training Thursday before the game it would seem too soon to expect him to play a full match - IMHO of course (and not claiming any football managerial/coaching expertise)

Knowing Wayne I wouldn't think he even expected to get straight back in team after his bad illness, must have drained him somewhat.

Excellent thread though I must say.
