ESL 2?

Recommended Posts

I have been looking in the last few weeks at some of these clubs in the bottom half of the Ryman 1 North(Ilford,Tilbury,Redbridge,GWR,Grays,Leyton,Waltham Forest,Waltham Abbey,Chesunt,Ware,Harlow Town,Heybridge Swifts)which have been really struggling and at some of the signings they made and I came to the conclusion that for a lot of these clubs there isn't really a division for them. They are clubs that would have been good for the old Ryman 2 or 3 but really they can't make an impact on the Ryman 1 North top 9 teams.Recession is really biting hard and financially I believe would be better for a lot of them to drop into the ESL which looks really the strongest it has been for many years.A lot of derbies and smaller budgets look a more viable solution to avoid getting into debts.Frankly I wouldn't really look at some of the players they signed which are rather ESL outcasts or rejects.I believe other ESL clubs would do the same.

think that about the most ridiculous thread you have ever started

The only good thing about a return to the ESL would be entering into the FA Vase, and having a realistic chance of winning it.

Nobody mentioned Romford!

Are you suggesting that there are clubs in R1 there based on the status of their ground rather than the quality of their team.....smilewinkgrin.gif

cant see why any of those clubs would really want to go into the Essex senior league. Not knocking the league but surely for attracting fans, the ryman one north is a much more attractive proposition, plus you play in the trophy which gives teams a chance to play the likes of Luton etc

Just a quick question

If this did happen and they all joined the ESL where would the winning team get promotion back too ??? Ryman 1 or would there be no promotion

Coach if we are trying to increase the number of teams in the ESL wouldn't it be better to join forces with the Kent league and then have two divisions with promotion & relegation within each other and then promotion into Step 4 and the Ryman league.

Just an idea
