No vegies the Swedes

Recommended Posts

The Two things i will not except is that a) Tony Blair is stupid, course he won't have a vote on the Euro when he knows that there are too many people have already decided how they will vote and thats on emotion.

B) That the Swedish vote was a walkover 56% is hardly a massive NO !

Very clever pa, but voting with their heads ? NO more like their hearts. I watched alot of coverage on a sky channel called "Euro News". The amount of people who didn't give an economic reason against the Euro but an emotional one upset me!

What the press doesn't mention is that Two months ago opinon polls showed 63% to 37% were against but once the debates started it dropped. Interesting one isn't it, maybe Sweden arn't as stupid as the vote shows.

Tain't goin' to happen for ages, if at all.

Who saw Michael Portillo and Dianne Abbot on the Beeb the other night ?

Now there's a pair of politicians from either side of the fence that talk a lot of sense. (Is he 'giving her one', I ask myself ??)

Personally, and independently of political view, I think Big Tone's days are seriously numbered. The Hutton enquiry will probably make sure of that.

As the man in The States said, "THE BUCK STOPS HERE......"

Sadly for the "Tories" i think ya right J.R,, Why sad for the Conservatives ?..well Brown will come in, the Unions favorite and win back the support of Real Labour. He will still keep his realist attitude and regain the support of middle Britain. Blame everything on Blair!

And get Labour re-elected !

Which (major) Euro nation I.E.France or Germany has shown any financial improvement in its home finance affairs since joining the Euro

If the Brits the Danes and the Swedes stay out of the Euro it is in major problems with the Brits and the Swedes being positive contributors (not certain about the Danes who may also be positive "donors")

Every nation in the Union gains more than it puts in !

In is very unfair to class nations as non posotive contributors, the whole point of the euro is to allow companies to deal with each other in a stable community. Removing the cost of converting money which stops companies losing on deals.

As for nations losing money while in the Euro America has lost money as have the majority of nations in the world, you seem to forget the dent on economics that the 9/11 attacks caused !

Agree with much of what you say but it is a fact that Germany and France have suffered financial set backs since joining the Euro

The nonsense about conversion factors is not held up by the actual companies involved

The other misnomer is that foreign investment will suffer, not true, GB has a greater inward investment programme than any country in the Euro zone.

I was in Spain this year and the cost of living since joining the Euro has risen at best very sharply

we are the fourth richest country in the world If it aint broke do!nt mend it

If this government needs to spend our money (repeat our money) then give OAPs a pension they can live on, cut school classes below thirty pupils per class and give us a NHS that would obviate needing to go to the African or Asian continents for urgent surgery

Small issues where in the past six years our transport system and Road maintenance have collapsed will have to wait for a government who understand management

I am getting really tired of the Euro debate to me and Europhiles it is simple go in and to you and Euro-syptics it is stay out. I am also against a referendum not because i am pro-Euro but i think that you elect a Government to make decisons for you. It is all a case of the future if we stay out and we end up a depleted economy then the people were wrong to stay out if the opposite happens then they were right. No one can see the future but i predict a misty time outside the Euro.

Just cause something isn't broke doesn't meen you can't improve it.

The Euro to me is a small but important issue. The truth is People will vote at the next election on the usual three; Education, Health and Crime.

I hate to get political <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> but i don't beileve that the Tories plans for 20% cuts across the board will actually improve the quality of schooling or NHS.

U VR23 You have fully demonstrated the knowledge and deep thinking attitudes of people that do what they are told

So far this government that circa 43% of the people voted for has made great attempts at infrastructure demolition whilst taking us to war on data that has been proven as lies from word one and in the process has killed thousands of Arabs and hundreds of Brits

Keep doing what you are told old son the rest of us will continue to think for ourselves

Please! end of "discussion"

I don't do what i am told you patronising peice of work!

I don't mind saying i was pro this war...why?. because i have seen pictures of the Gas attacks on the Kurds and as a realist understand that Dictators must be stopped this does not mean i did not shed a tear for the people who died. It sickens me to think you would use the deaths of young children, Arabs and British troops as a political tool.

What is the great conservative idea, to privatise everything from the Tube to the Refuse collector and to as the Conservatives Love cut taxes which would cause a major loss to public spending. The Tories are great on slogans but short on substance.

I don't like 'New Labour' but to me it is the lesser of the Two Evils

O!k one at a time

Gas attacks on Kurds indeed a very vile incident but why then not attack Red China (Tinnerman Square) Uganda ( Idi A. murdered thousands and ate the odd few) Somalia--Eritria--Zimbabwe etc etc No we went to war on a bunch of lies spoken by Tony Blair

Korea has broken every U.N resolution on the ultimate weapon of mass destruction, when do we attack them (unforunatly they have no oil)

Privatise?? are you aware that the railway system is under privatisation a safer way to travel than when it was nationalised, true not fiction

Your labour party is privatising the NHS and making a fck up of it from start to finish

The rubbish collection where I live is the best collection service I have ever seen and is private (I promise true)

This is the second labour government I have lived under and looks to be crashing under the weight of its failures as did the first

Well I was against the war too, so I'm with you on that one pabird. Indeed, we frequently seem to be invited to vilify certain nations for their despicable acts while turning a blind eye to others - remember South Africa? We still played football with the Soviet Union and did our damndest to trade with China at the time. Of course they're bigger than us...

However I suspect that some creative use of statistics has been used to suggest that the railways are safer under privatisation. Is it based on incidents, near incidents, injuries or deaths? Or is it simply that the number of accidents has fallen dramatically because there are so few train journeys now????? It is clear that the railway system is now in complete disarray. Virgin have just taken one type of train out of service altogether and the chances of your train leaving Liverpool Street at all, let alone on time, are becoming increasingly remote.

The destruction of the NHS began under Thatcher, who says that her greatest achievement was New Labour.

Yes, our refuse collection service works tolerably well too. It's the old council one but with a funny logo on the lorries, of course.

Unfortunately people tend not to vote on issues, but on what they think is best for them personally, i.e. the least tax. Hence the race between parties to cut services to cut taxes, and the replacement of the Labour Party with New Labour, essentially an alternative Conservative party.

Similarly, surely the point of the Euro/Europe is to achieve what's best for Europe as a whole, not to try to grab what's best for your own little state. The quality of life in Europe seems to be much better than in the UK where we seem to think that work is a good thing, and an end in itself.

Finally, Greece, Italy and Spain are in the Euro and they have much nicer weather than us!

Of course I.M figures reflect the group that put them together

Me I would be a communist if the human condition had reached the stage where we all gave our all for the community

Unfortunately that is a day dream for students and the under thirties

If my life depended on it my answer to "which were the two worst governments" you have lived under then I would have to say both were labour, I.E. Callahagn and Blair and coming close the final 2 years of Thatcher then the final year of Major.

The European well being?? The French have conned its way through membership to a profit level year on year and only us and the Germans have kept the entire bloody mess alive

How on earth can that mass of non-productive Euro civil servants and self seeking Euro MPs be quantified!

Lets understand one of the single misnomers involved.

GB has been governed as a low wage high tax community with the government now failing to use those (higher and higher ) taxes efficiently. Germany has been and is a high wage high tax country where services are efficient.

If we are to enter 100% into the Euro spirit of benevolence to all of our Euro partners then I want a German OAP pension and German efficiency in services provided

Unfortunately more chance of gaining S.H.ONE.T from a rocking horse
