Referee's

Smudge

Having watched 3 excellent Teams of Officials in my last 3 games at Eversley,Raynes Park Vale,Knaphill,it came as a shock to me to see the Level of Officialdom at Whyteleafe last night, which is in Ryman 1 South. To say they were very poor, would be kind on my part. But as you know I love a Pound Note, and to pay out £175 yes £175 that is the Fees,it would of broke my Heart.they should be done under the TRADE DESCRIPTION ACT.

Poor communication, assistant mugged the Ref off twice when he pointed his flag with a different outcome to what the Ref gave, then a rolling ball incident from a free kick in the area, lino kept his flag up,ball reached other penalty area,he took play back when He noticed it fully 90yds.Perfectly good goal disallowed when the keeper and forward went for a 50/50 ball, keeper got injured and had to go off.lino made 'Rocket Ron' look like USAIN BOLT.

Smudge what was your take on the game? I spoke to Jon this morning and he was gutted I am sure they will get things right there just a bit of a transition period at the moment having to build from scratch.

What an interesting question Smudge.

And my answer as ever is clouded. For me £175 for 3 officials is a huge amount for a club that spends next to nothing on players but for a club that pays £k,s per week it probably should be higher.

I think you have to put it into perspective..... Many players that get paid at all levels also have bad games and make mistakes.....Do we still not pay to go and watch them the next week...... Refs have a bad time of it as if they are good it is expected and if they are not they are rubbish. I do however think they do it as they love the game and I am sure in their minds they are doing the right thing at the time although not everyone may agree with it.

Godalming where unfortunate in losing their Keeper to injury early on in the game. But saying that the stand in keeper did very well, someone said it was the Assistant Manager.Think Godalming's problems are if you do not buy a Lottery Ticket you can't win nothing.

nice approach play, but no one is prepared to shoot,BOTH Teams are in a dogfight, and lack confidence and it shows, but a nice bunch of Lads.Overall Whyteleafe deserved the victory on their 2nd half performance but only just.LETS HOPE THEY GIVE HIM TIME,SEEMED A VERY NICE FELLOW.

But why the huge differential in FEES from C.C.L to Ryman Sth.On the performance I saw last night they were not worth it.Or are the C.C.L. ONES WORTH MORE,You can after all get £30 for Reffing a Sunday Football League.

175 seems alot, but these guys do give up thier time and with the price of diesel most of it could be spent on getting to and from the game.

The standard of referee in ccl prem is very hit and miss though, refs seem unaproachable at times and remind me of parking wardens dishing out cards to get s.f.a coffers bulging!!

Also a ref who has a good "game" one week goes to pot when being assesed!

I know we players have bad games but at least we can be dropped! RANT OVER!

Smudge was this lino really slower than ron!!!

This arguement could go on for ever like players some refs have bad games and arent good enough for the league etc!! We had a good ref last night who you could actually speak to used common sense with giving yellow cards.

Bet your fee for stewarding the car park was more than £175, Smudge ;)

Whyteleafe's "playing budget" (which pretty much only covered travel expenses anyway) stopped at Christmas 2009. Only one manager has ever been paid and that was for one season only - Dave Swindlehurst. We have a lot of youth players in the side, gaining very valuable experience, and some 'Leafe loving established players (Oakins, Daryl Coleman, Freddie Fleming). OK former Chips players.

The chairman might pay some players petrol money but if they receive anything, it's more likely to be in a pint glass.

Lee.. And thats how it should be.... If anything a bit of petrol money .... It would bring football back to where it should be but unfortunately the more money that is thrown at players further up the chain the more it effects those at grass rooys.. PS how is Blake Goodman doing down there?????
