WOW !!! That is an absolutely amazing scoreline and fantastic result for the club.

Steve has been promising for some time that sooner or later we would give someone a right drubbing and tonight was the night.

I am sure all of us will take a great deal pleasure from this win which confirms our potential and shows what we are capable of achieving this season.

Well done everyone and thanks to Steve and all the squad for a very memorable victory.

On a par with Sudbury as the performance of the season so far. Leon and Adam were quality going forward....the whole team played well and it could of easily been 7 or 8 or even 9....................The highlights (for once i got all six goals!!!!) are taking hours to put together as there are so many including Bryan's miskick!! I'll upload them to the cold end tomorrow morning hopefully.....it'll be worth waiting for!!!

Enfield Town (2) 6 Osei 31, 41, 75, Hope 70, S.Blackburne 87, Forward 90

Attendance 152

Enfield just kept getting stronger in this game as they ended up decimating the Brentwood defence. The Essex side will have been disappointed at being two goals down to Leon Osei’s double strike, but they were unable to live with the Enfield attack in the second half and paid a heavy price.

Former Enfield player Ellis Remy, had two early shots for Brentwood, but was unable to find the target. Leon Osei had a shot blocked and Andy Jones was denied when he tangled with Ryan Doyle. With the game still even, Enfield’s pace was beginning to stretch the Brentwood defence. Then Jey Siva intercepted a poor clearance and fed the ball forward to Osei who fired home from inside the box. He doubled his tally shortly after with a great shot on the turn that caught out Marc Palmer in the Brentwood goal. Adam Wallace could have added a third before the break when he forced his way past Darren Blewitt, but Palmer stood up well to block the shot. Liam Hope tried his lucking firing over from the edge of the box, but Brentwood still posed a threat, though shots from Ross Palmer and Danny Dafter failed to find the target.

The second half saw Enfield continue to improve, and early shots from Lockie and Osei showed their intent. Wallace then threaded the ball through to Hope who slid the ball just the wrong side of the post. Double substitutions for Brentwood failed to make any improvement, and Wallace came close, jinking into the box and curling a shot just round the post. Dan Forward also came close, glancing a Siva cross just wide. Then a low drive into the box found Wallace who could only hold the ball up, but Hope pounced, driving the ball home. Brentwood were still trying to get something back and created threats from another former Enfield man Ryan Edgar. But it was effectively over when Osei got his hatrick and he did it in style. Beating the offside trap, he cut into the box, and slammed the ball into the roof of the net from close range. It wasn’t over for Brentwood yet as the introduction of the eager Stuart Blackburne continued to torment the back four. His first effort went wide, then he had a shot on the turn deflected across the goal. When Bryan Hammatt dispossessed a defender in midfield, his run was straight at goal. Palmer did well to deny him twice, but the arrival of Blackburne saw the ball driven home with venom. With the Brentwood defence rocking, Enfield could have had more. To their credit, Brentwood’s front line kept pushing up and Rob Blackburne made good saves from Edgar and came out well to deny Jacob Dingli. But Enfield kept going and Stuart Blackburne chased a long ball before squaring to Dan Forward to stroke home from inside the box. The final touch of the game came when Blackburne again beat the offside trap only to be denied by a fine save from Palmer.

Leon's hatrick was the first for the club since Mitch Hahn against Aveley in the 4-7 defeat and joins the ranks with Danny Clarke (6), Ricci Crace (3), Bryan Hammatt (3), Peter Ulatowski (2), Mitch Hahn, Rudi Hall, Lee Marshall, Jamie Morris, Kevin Riley, and lee Smith (4 goals against Concorde)

In terms of big wins we beat Ilford 7-0 in a first v 2nd ESL encounter in April 03, 8-2 against Waltham Abbey in October 07, and beat Waltham Forest 6-0 away in October 08. This is therefore, arguably, our best win at step 4 as Father Jack tells me the Abbey and WF wins were against 'weaker' oppo due to circumstances at that time....

Well done Cold End! I second Jim's comments. Your camera work gets better and better and it really gives us exiles a great feel for the match.

Can't recall seeing our keeper making one save. Were Brentwood really as bad as the highlights and score suggests?

You have a very interesting and well presented website. Sure it is much admired and used by many people.

Keep up the good work mate!

UP THE TOWN

Super site, a must view for those interested in Town's progress this season. Love all the Stats. Goes to show that Abbey had double the average crowd in the premier division. A promotion for Town and i'd estimate average crowds of 400+ at least. But let's get up first.
