Hi,<p>I travelled down to watch the Grantham v Canvey game today, and I must say that I was impressed by Canvey - they tore Grantham to bits in the second half in a wind that made it a lottery as to which way the ball would go.<p>After the game, I went into the bar, and had a beer with a few Canvey fans - we got talking about Julian Dicks - apparently he was released by your manager last week, but his agent has put a gagging order on the local newspaper and the website.<p>Is there any truth in this?<p>As the fans who I spoke to were fairly sure about this, and the fact that Dicks did not play, I can only assume that it is true.<p>Does anyone know any more???<p>Well done Canvey, and if you play your next game 'north of Watford', I might come and watch you again.<p>X2001

If you check out Canveys website and check out the squad info, if says that Julian Dicks left the squad in Jan 2002. So that is the offical line....nice of them to let us know! But hey, we are only the fans!

Why would that be the official line? Check the squad info and go to the bottom, and it says Players who have left but played in the 2001/2 season.. and Dicks is there.

Oh hang on....Dicks isn't there now! But he was there yesterday! HMMMMM...something tells me something strange is happening... I feel as if I am in the twilight zone! H8YTR,perhaps the club have taken a leaf out of alex ferguson's book and started playing the mind games!! although i thought that was to unsettle your opponents (remember kevin keegan at newcastle, "i will love it, love it if we beat utd,!" shortly after throwing a 12 point lead away) and not your own fans!!

I heard about a fan who had the same problem - won't give his name, but you can see him most days rubbing his head up against the fence posts.

BBC Essex Breakfast Programme on Thursday 7th Feb reported that Julian Dicks could be moving into coaching and will not play for Canvey again as he is injured. His agent was interviewed by Roger Buxton and she explained that another reason for his absence is that March sees the start of the Pro-Am golf season.<p>More news can be found here
