Referee's

Recommended Posts

I watched the Barkingside v Stansted game last night and I must say I thought that the 2 sides were very harsh on there opinion of the referee.

He sent off 2 players (1 each side) 1 for 2 yellows and one straight red (although the player had already been booked) but he was right on both counts, at both occassions the respective management were giving the officials lots of abuse.

The other bookings were for kicking balls away and dissent which are the players fault.

Perhaps the teams should look at themselves and stop blaming the ref when the result does not go there way.

Are these teams the worse or will I have the pleasure of hearing other teams bemoan the officials when I watch them.

What are your thoughts?

I rather agree, while this ref does have a bit of a reputation I thought he did alright last night in a game which was difficult to control.

Based on seeing Stanstead twice in the last week (at home last Thursday and again last night) it does seem to me that their bench does tend to be a touch over critical of the match officials, particularly when the team are struggling a bit on the pitch.

Not that there is anything unusual in that, It is, I believe, the second rule of football that a player's/manager's/supporter's opinion of the match officials is directly proportionate to how well their team is doing.
