How about this for statistics...

Indeed the margins between success and oblivion are worryingly narrow.

This should act as a lesson to all clubs*

Apart from Premiership clubs who will be bailed out and given every by assistance by the FA. Hence they can carry on spending money as if there is no tomorrow.

Interesting that one club's latest figures show a £70million trading shortfall on the very day they spent a further £71m on two players !

Our problem wasn't that we were in debt, we obviously weren't in enough debt.

As the old saying goes, if you owe the bank £500 its your problem, if you owe the bank £5m, its their problem!!

I would also imagine having a multi-multi millionire(billionaire?) oligarch backing you, average home gates of 40,000+ and millions of franchise buying fans worldwide would also help a little bit as well. Probably wiped out half of their debts in Torres shirt sales alone!!!!

To be honest Fuzzy I'd be very surprised if it is self funding even considering the lower level and wages. Having worked on and managed projects for most of my career (although civils isn't really my field ) the installation of the 3G pitches, the new stand and everything else to be installed by the start of next season id say is hopeful at the very least. Especially if the club aren't using a full time projects manager ( I don't know if they are or not). Its not impossible by any means, but its going to be a tough install given the time lines... if my boss asked me this I'd be I'd sucking the air over my teeth and shaking my head.... but hey we all love a challenge!

I think the self funding would be a 3 year project, nobody would expect it to be up and running by the start, or even realistically the end, of next season but i meant the opportunity and possibility of being self funding. If we have pitches and a gym it CAN be self funding, without them there will be no club.........
