CCL Summer 6 a-side Tournament

Curfew

I would be interested to know the thoughts and feelings on a potential Combined Counties Summer 6 a-side tournament?

I would be happy to begin organisation of such a tournament, should there be enough interest from around the league?

Personally i believe it could be a great day/couple of days to bring the curtain down on the current season and also bring together manager's/players/staff/commitee members/supporters and fans focus forum members to build the league's profile as well as relationship's between clubs.

As we are all aware the 5/6-side has taken off in the last few years and i believe all players from every club would be interested in playing in the tournament. The standard of our league has improved considerably since I started in the league 4 years ago and i believe it could be a very competive and enjoyable tournament.

Thoughts on the concept, as well as potential forum members to help me with putting it together would be much appreciated.

Inital feelings could be that is put on for the first weekend after the end of the season, so manager's/players etc are still in season mode and not out on Saturday's shopping just yet!

We ran a summer tournament for charity last close season just before the world cup and themed it with national teams colours to play in, maybe the timing was not perfect but the charity concerned were keen to push ahead regardless and whilst we had a great day and everyone involved gave great feedback on the day im afraid to say not one combined countiees team attended. We didnt manage to fill the 32 teams to play the full World cup, we had 24 sides on the friday and by 9am on the saturday we had 16!!. Still as i say we had a great day we raised £1000 for the Charity the Doctor who heads up the research trying to help the poor children who suffer from Mitochondrial Disease attended on the day and gave a short speech and was presented with a cheque. The charity were impressed enough to ask if we could do it again.... the friends i press ganged in to playing on the morning were not so keen !!

I'm not saying dont do it just be sure you have people signed and sealed it was a depressing week in the run up to our tournament thinking that it was all done for such a good cause and the full support not being there. Maybe the end of the season might be too early lots of football to squeeze in before the end? Start of pre-season maybe more appealing ?
