A note from Gary who has been contacted by Dave Anderson - tonight's Non League Show will feature Saturday's incident as a main point of discussion. The panel are looking for people to email or Twitter their thoughts and opinion related to the whole process of match abandonment related to referee injury.

Contact the show via nonleague@bbc.co.uk or http://twitter.com/#...!/nonleagueshow and your opinion could be aired.

You can listen to the show on BBC London 94.9 tonight at 8.30.

The podcast for those that missed it (which will include Ian's email) will be available here in due course http://www.bbc.co.uk/podcasts/series/nonleague

The incident was talked about for the first 10-15mins of the show, where by it seems the game should have carried on with just 2 officials but this was only clarified 45mins after the game had been officially abandoned after consultation with the FA.

So obviously both clubs and match officials were not aware of this ruling.

If push comes to shove who will be held responsible?

On the surface it seems such a stupid rule. How can a game be run properly and fairly with only one referees assistant?

Just as well as I tuned in just before 9:00pm like it said everywhere in their programme schedules to find it did actually start at 8:30 like you posted. Even when I was listening to what was clearly the non-league show at 8:55 the online player stated "Next show: Non-League Show 21:00 to 22:00" :flame:

It is normally on at 9 but had been pushed forward due to the Brentford game and live commentary. Funnily enough whilst following the Twitter tonight Wealdstone in their county cup game against Staines the ref went off injured, but being a county cup game they had loads of qualified officials present.

In answer to RR point about who will be held responsible, the show contacted the league and the matter will be dealt with at the leagues board.

What I hadn't appreciated until istening to the podcast was that Dave Anderson IS a qualified official. In that case, I don't see how Arlesey could have refused to accept Dave as a suitable replacement.

They appealed for a replacement from the crowd who was highly likely to have been associated with either Arlesey or Slough in some capacity - staff, official, fan etc. So what would have been acceptable to them - only a totally neutral qualified official who just happened to be at Arlesey with no affiliation to either club? Given that Arlesey refused to accept a qualified official as a replacement I'd make an appeal to the FA that we should get the three points.

That said, how can the match officials seemingly not have known that we should have continued with the remaining two?

I agree with Chris, it is the referee's duty to advise on the laws of the game, as soon as he became aware of the lack of agreement over a replacement official he should have pointed them to this rule. I don't really see how either club can be held responsible if the ref didn't point that out. It would be interesting to see practically how they ran the game with two officials.

Also must say I hadn't appreciated that Dave Anderson was a qualified official, that wasn't made clear on Saturday. In that case they can have no reasonable objection to him running the line.

As I said on the other thread how would it have been any better if I produced a card from my wallet that says I am a qualified official. Would they have then seen past my STFC shirt, hoddie, woolie hat (I am a walking advert for the club shop) and allowed me to run the line? I think not.

I also think there was a qualified Arlesey supporting official in the ground who refused to run the line. It would have been interesting to see whether we would have objected to him had he come forward.
