Attendances

Just looking at yesterdays non league attendances and we were a creditable 6th in our league with 293,only one team in the zamaretto (Truro) had more than us with 321 out of 9 games

Evo stik prem had 2 more than us out of 5 games and one of those was hucknall at 432 who played Fc united (whose fans don't seem to travel too well when out the limelight

Two teams in evo stik one north had more than us (Durham v Chester 507) and chorley v within 66

In ryman one south Bognor had 401 against godalming but I take no notice of this coz as soon as Bognor go up and lose a couple their gates go below 200 on a regular basis

We had better gates than two conf north clubs and the same as Eastwood

And we had better gate than two conf south clubs

So it seems crowds are just poor everywhere at the moment which actually surprises me a bit as I would of thought that the non league game would be thriving more as people start to turn their backs on the top leagues ,or maybe they aren't after all??

I took my little grandson to his first ever match yesterday and some of the language (from the opposition players) was quite appalling, and I don't think his parents would be very impressed if his first words contained the F word. IMO if we want to encourage young families to our matches stamping out swearing, on and off the pitch could be a very cheap and effective way of doing it.

The talk about low attendances reminds me of a oouple of funnies. Someone rang Romford FC and asked "what time is kick off Saturday?". They replied " what time can you get here?". At the last home game before kick off the announced the crowd changes! :0)

Do it for both games, maybe aveley is too soon although there's no time like the present, saying that, this forum isn't used by anywhere near the amount of people it was 2 - 3 years ago

I would say there was 15-20 regular posters on here and another 15-20 who come on here every now and then

We were talking about the same topic at our game Tuesday . I too thought with the recession and higher prices for everything that "our" level of football would benefit . Alas it appears the ones who are not going to the higher end games are the ones who will now just sit in front of a TV . I find it insane really that folk think nothing of spending £50 ticket and then probably another £25 (conservative guess) on travel etc when for the same money "we" can have a few beers before a game , watch game , have food , have more beer after , be back indoors (if need be) before the others have got back from a London game and still have enough to do it again next time ! Ohh and more importantly actually feel part of a club !

No easy answers to this , but even the likes of Chelmsford are struggling big time with attendances and they have a great chance to get into the BSP ! Ohh well , at least it seems we all have this common vein presently .
