Arlesey Town A-A Slough Town

Interesting to read all the comments. One of our regulars was there and was sitting with Daarren Salton when he was approached - understandable IMO that on this occasion Salts wouldn't want to get involved.

Just two other comments:

- Gary's reference to League Rule 8.3.3. is interesting - this was subject to much dispute I believe when the originally abandoned Luton Town v York City match was recently replayed. York fans got well shafted.

- Even more interesting was the reference to Rule 15.3 by Windsor Sec. What he didn't say here in addition is the last couple of sentences of Rule 15.3:

Should the appointed Referee fail to appear, then the Senior Assistant Referee must (not should, must) take charge. Any substitute agreed shall be considered a Match Official for the purposes of the match.

In the event that a Club causes a match to be abandoned in relation to the operation of this rule then that club shall be charged with failing to fulfil a fixture. (Rule 8.6 refers).

So that says to me, that if Man City Arlesey had been say 2 goals up, their Sec. if he knew of this rule, could have insisted that it was applied? In the circumstances of being a goal down, did he just keep quiet, or did he not know this rule? And in any case, surely the match officials should have been aware of it?

From a neutral perspective, this game should not have been abandoned, and as Windsor Sec says, if common sense doesn't prevail then it is possible that both clubs could be held liable? The plus for us is that Man City have now got five games to catch up on us, so there's every chance I'll be down thete to see you get the job done when you return.

Chris, if you do go you can have my voucher as I can't make a Tuesday night in Arlesey, hence the protestations on the day.

Ian, I believe that in Steve Easterbrooks note on our website he states that something has now been put in place so you can get your money back dance%20%282%29.gif

Yes, I saw that but I'm not interested in Slough Town refunding money when they took no revenue from the game. If Arlesey want to then that's a different matter.
