Margate v Billericay updates

When are we going to have a Fortress Hartsdown - a stronghold where the visitors know the odds are against them getting a point, let alone a win?

At the moment we play as if it's Margate who are the visitors attending the oppositions stronghold. I know the home support can get a bit quiet, but we're not doing the right things to get the crowd behind us.

Why don't we make the best of our squad like most other teams do? Today we had two first team starters on the bench, but they weren't utilised ... when we were desperate for an injection of fresh blood & some new ideas.

In the second half we were intent in attacking down the left flank, when the wind was blowing across the ground from the right .. this meant that passes along the left wing were drifting out of play before reaching their target. We had the resources on the bench (Lacy & Wilson) to take the game down the right wing and get crosses into the centre ... but for some reason chose not to use that option. Could it be that we have two strong 'target men' (Welford & Bradbrook) who are never in the middle to meet any crosses that get through ?

Wilson wasn't in kit so don't know why he was named as sub. Midfield very poor today, Rogers seems very limited to put it politely and Pinnock and Groombridge aren't midfielders. Stubbs should be right wing back if we insist on 5 3 2, his commendable efforts are wasted on the left. Would help the strikers if Dan could whip crosses in with his right foot.

I thought Rogers had a good game today and actually, Pinno IS a midfielder. He's NOT a striker although he obvisouly has played up front for us.. Having said that, it wasn't one of his best games today.

At least it makes things simple for the reporters on the match. All they have to do is cut and paste from the last match report: Margate play well first half, didn't deserve to lose, go down to a late goal(s), lose again. Simples

The wind was a huge factor yesterday and spoilt the game completely, but we did not use it to our advantage, and we did not deserve to lose, but lose we did, all a bit of a huge disappointment and the lack of any atmosphere at the ground sums up to me that we are all getting a bit fed up with it, is it patience we all need? any more displays likeour recent ones and we will be back towards the bottom again, although currently the bottom 5 are a bit adrift., not sure what the answer is we do not have a big squad for one reason or another , subs not being used at all, showing a lack of confidence in their ability, if we get a couple of injuries, which is likely I suppose, then we will be in even greater trouble. Tjought the gate of 300+ was very reasonable for a windy old day wonder how long we will be able to keep gstes over 300, sorry all very depressing.

Pinno IS a midfielder. He's NOT a striker .

I must remember to ask him if he is a striker or midfielder next time I speak to him.

Think I know the answer though and it is not a midfielder.

Okiedoke.
