Ideas and initiative thread

Eastside Urchin

Recommended Posts

Thought I would start a thread solely for ideas how to get more people into the club, mainly through the turnstiles on match day but also for any functions/events that may be open for supporters and non supporters alike.

Another idea is maybe to offer a family ticket for say £15 for 2 adults & 2 kids,I will put a sticky on this thread for a while, please discuss/add ideas

Invite local junior clubs to send along ball boys. They will bring Dad along, and possibly Mum - and they will spend money. One of our Company Directors is associated with FC Halifax Town who adopt such a scheme.

See if we can get local bands to come along and play before the game.

See if local craft or hobby type clubs would like to set up a tabletop stand on matchdays to promote their hobby. They may even sell some of their wares. (a bit like the Havering Show). This could be done outside or in the clubhouse. We could use our website to advertise in advance which club or society would be attending.

It would be nice to spice up match days as, to be honest, it sometimes seems a bit stale

I know I have put this on another thread but I think this is maybe a long term project for the clubs fans to get their teeth into.

How about having a supporters "sports " bar run by the fans for the fans and locals

Upminster is now devoid of anywhere decent to watch live sports. We could if we could find space on the premises somewhere, work towards getting something built which would show live sports, have darts/pool /table football to play, maybe the odd fruit machine???

Open every evening and weekend I am sure locals would support it if it was a nice place to spend time,it wouldn't necessarily have to be concrete so not sure if planning permission may not be needed although I am sure we would have to clear it with the council. It may sound like alot to get involved in but the more I think about it,the more I think it should be given serious consideration

Excuse me butting in but looks like Rob is on his pc/laptop

By the way Rob, I e-mailed the media in Queensland asking how the cassowaries at Mission Beach are getting on after the cyclone. So far nobody has been able to get out to check.

Website says it's a birdwatchers paradise, well it was before this week.
