Goodbye old friend

Seeing as nobody in any official capacity could be bothered to find out I've just contacted the High Court offices who have confirmed that Windsor & Eton FC [Holdings] Ltd was wound up in this mornings' hearing.

So it's goodbye old friend, we've been through some bad times and good times, tears & laughter, joy & pain. Many a face from when I started watching the club 30+ years ago are no longer with us [May they rest in peace] and many new faces have replaced them on the terraces at Stag Meadow. In many respects it's been like watching a family pet die in that we knew the end was coming and we tried to make it as comfortable as possible but it is still heartbreaking when the inevitable day comes. I would like to place on record my eternal thanks for those people who have worked tirelessly in the last few months to find a way through this and I'm sorry your efforts were ultimately in vain.

There is, as we know, some light at the end of the tunnel and, all things being equal, we should be back up and running for next season albeit lower down the pyramid.

In many respects this is the best opportunity the club has had recently to get it right so we must not waste our chance and make sure the new club is set up the right way for the right reasons with the right people behind the scenes.

I'm confident we can get it right and the feeling I get is that everyone around us wants to get it right so lets give it our best shot and see where we end up on this bumpy ride we're undertaking !

I'm also hoping that the new start might see some younger blood joining in to help as none of us are getting any younger and new blood brings new ideas which is just what we need now.

Thanks once again to all the loyal Royalists out there - the King is dead, long live the King !

A very sad day indeed, and non-league football has lost a wonderful member of it's family, but let's try not to be too sad, and as hard as it is right now, we have a chance of a new beginning to look forward to, and I'm sure everyone will being do all they can to ensure the new club grows and thrives, but this time doing things prudently and not spending beyond it's means.

Sorry, guys. As Steve said you knew it was coming but it won't have been any easier to deal with as a result. All of us at Slough are genuinely sad at what's happened. How the hell it happened to you and not us heaven only knows.

Today will have been [censored], but tomorrow it starts again. You have a chance to create a new history. Good luck and it'll be great when we're at the same level again (assuming you've come up to our as opposed to us coming down to meet you on the way up!!).

All the best.
