Been trying to fathom this out for years, still no nearer the answer.many have passed by the wayside. If Managers are to be Judged on success only one springs to mind.Micky Sullivan did a great job at Merstham, and has continued it at Leatherhead,is it the man Management skills,Contacts,Dedication,or is it time for the younger breed to take over. But therein lies the crux, bit like young Players,no experience at that level.Yours views would be appreciated, thinking of applying for Posts myself.Any Advice?

in micks case he has evolved and i think learnt over the years. what i have noticed with him is, he delegates well. you need good contacts i think you have that smudge. i think you have to be prepared for people to disapoint you, and also to work with

people that are sometimes not as dedicated as you are. coffee%20%282%29.gif

no this is smudge, he has indicated not a big fan of players being paid. without the £ note, good players will be tempted away.

i know and you know, that the grass is not always greener.coffee%20%282%29.gif

Just on the Mick Sullivan case, he is a great manager I believe as he knows how to talk to people,he knows the game. He has good people around him in there coaching roles. He has ambition, He is commited it all he does. Most importantly he is Honest.

He has been successful where ever he has been.

Best of luck to Mick and Leatherhead for the rest of the Season.

The present Cobham manager Damian Ray has all the credentials, similar to Mick Sullivan,Honesty,Dedication,Approachable,Has good contacts, shame it is not in his remit to release Players, the only downfall. As for the previous Cobham Manager I assume by your post, that my best mate(tongue in cheek) could of held the job,if correct he possess's none of the above Quality's,maybe that's why their Form was not good.

what makes a good manager well I've been involved with management for about the last 15 years and have won quite a lot of things but that alone doesn't make you a good manager,I think if you get the players and commitee and supporters behind you at your present club then that means they will say you are a good manager as soon as it changes (for whatever reason) then that will make you a bad manager,we are no different to the players some will say your the best and the ones you drop or leave out will say you are crapp, its all about opinions my friends and at this moment in time I only care what the people of Cove F.C. think of my managment skills.
