Last nights attendance

AFCH is part of the entertainment industry and if people believe they will receive value for money entertainment then they will come. Simple enough equation - but tricky to solve. I too have a Season Ticket but didn't show last night. Difficult to say why ... maybe I just needed a rest after Lowestoft and Horsham? I will be there on Saturday. Its easy enough to criticise people for not attending but maybe the Club ought to be a bit more pro-active in tackling the problem? I am not aware of any initiatives the Club have tried in an effort to increase gates. All the ideas seem to be being generated by supporters.

No intention of being offensive whatsoever but have you ever considered that Bridge Avenue could be part of the problem?, As you say, football is part of the entertainment industry and I would have thought that most neutral punters would prefer to pay a little extra to be entertained in a more lavish setting. Even though I am a convert to supporting local businesses, I would probably be happier watching Dartford on non Romford days, because of their fantastic stadium.

Also I slightly disagree with Rob when he said would prioritise trying to get ex supporters to return because in my experience once their lost, their lost forever, and I think its far more important to attract the next generation of fans, as non of us can go on for ever, and its up to us to market research whats needed to bring them in.

That's not true,we have had a few fans return in the last year or so,If they were fans once there is no reason why they wouldn't be in the past.I regularly bump into people who used to come over, they keep in touch with our results and say they will come back over but for some reason don't return. To ask Romford & Hornchurch fans to follow each others teams when theirs are away is ridiculous IMO,only one or two from each club if that would pay to watch the other team,as for bridge avenue,I really don't see that as a problem, dartford is unique, there are probably 12-15 grounds worse than ours in the ryman prem and that's not what is putting people off

In percentage terms our attendance deficits are probably about equal, and for us, while the odd one or two lapsed supporters make the occasional visit, that's about it. My big worry is that anyone under the age of sixteen are as rare as hens teeth these days, although maybe AFCHs situation is different. Of coarse your right when you say that there are far worse grounds than Bridge Avenue, but in my honest opinion its the ones that are superior that should be of concern because we all like a bit of luxury in our lives.

Yeah but only groundhoppers really visit other grounds, most fans won't go to other grounds unless their team is playing,a few do but that is when we don't have a match.

Our situation is a bit different as we do have quite a few young fans which is why our gates are down on a weeknight

performances like the one against horsham will not have fans flocking in god knows wot this saturdays attendance would be like if we lost last night but hate to say about 230-250 for the visit of bury this weekend

I wouldn't want to get a stick in the nuts in a wmen's hockey game, they take no prisoners.

I was quality at hockey. I was a box to box midfielder and popped up with the odd goal.

Back on subject, I think there's alot of people now who want to watch football but are unable to do it every week because of finances, other commitments etc.

The problem is once you start doing other things on a Saturday and miss games, it's difficult to get back into it once you develop a new routine. It's happened a bit over our place. We have a few new faces especially a few youngsters but some supporters have drifted away or go less now.

I did not turn up last night, even thou I have a season ticket, I can not say why I did not turn out, as you all know I have done so for over 20 years, but there seems to be for me something missing, it may be me, I only wish I knew, as then I could do something about it.

Maybe sometimes you just need a rest who knows .............................. I surpose getting up at 4am does not help.

Yes totally agree, there is something totally missing and sometimes we all have better things to do.

The club does not appear to have the same attraction any more and the last game I saw, was so bad, I left at half time.

Someone who I assume was one of your directors, came over and thanked the 43 for travelling up, which I thought was a very nice gesture.

Wouldn't have missed coming up to see you lot anyway.

Mind you, as one of you said after the game, WE WAS MUGGED.

As a matter of interest, the league have just issued the latest attendance stats and ours are actually up slightly from last season, averaging 275 against 273. Having said that, it's up to the end of January so the Margate game will have pulled it down. But we've got some attractive matches to come and I don't see why we shouldn't finish at well over 300 provided we keep in the promotion race, as I'm sure we will.

Interesting,i don't think we were helped by having the canvey game on a tuesday night when England were playing, also with the ricay game the gate was low as we were on a poor run of form.I think last season we moaned about the gates being low when they were no different from the year before
