Margate

Recommended Posts

Brace yourself, wind gusting at 35mph...but isn't it always when we play Margate?

Just a gentle breeze then as was gusting in 50s last night. Better keep those Umbrellas unfurled to be safe though.

Better keep those dodgy combovers under wraps :368:

I think it's fair to say it wasn't a tremendous spectacle, but the now traditional Margate hurricane really put paid to any chance of that before the start.

Margate had the "wind" in the first half and probably had the better of it with Jones making a good save from Shaun Welford (just the type of target man we could do with imo). Other than that though our back four dealt with them pretty well. I can't recall us having a shot in the first half - I was thinking of asking if I could have a fiver back if I left at half time.

We had the wind in the second half and got more into it. Anderson scored in a similar manner to his goal on Tuesday and Bertie almost doubled the tally straight afterwards with a good early shot. Margate didn't really threaten too much after that and the game always had a first goal wins feel about it.

If you don't concede you don't lose and I thought Jones' positioning and handling were excellent in the conditions (keep working on the kicking though Ashlee!), but MoTM for me was Micah by a mile, who was probably the only non-defensive player on the pitch that could deal with the weather.

We kept plugging away and a four point return from two long away trips is excellent. We have quite a few home games coming up now - let's hope we can make them count.

Come on you Blues!!
