Why Does It?....

...Take over an hour for our Official website to be updated? <img src="/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" />

I couldn't get to today's game as I was out on location filming and when I get home all I see is the half-time score and starting line-up. BBC Teletext has it down as finishing 1-1 but they've been known to make mistakes in the past.

If it did finish 1-1 I would like to know who scored Canvey's equaliser.

Where are the details? <img src="/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" />

Right then young man!

Kick off was delayed by 20 minutes because Northwood got stuck in traffic but when we did kick off they scored after 2 minutes through a scrappy effort from Brian Fitzgerald. I didn't see it because I was walking round the back of the stand at the time.

We struggled to get going in the first half. Minton showed flashes of inspiration but we were indebted to a great save from Potter to prevent us from going further behind.

Second half, much better, more passion but not helped by a referee who was a complete muppet. I thought it was Christmas and I was watching the Muppets' Show. The guy was a complete embarrassment!!

Great run by Minton down the left and cut the ball back for Boylan to slide home.

Just before that Boylan headed wide.

After that it was all Canvey. The keeper spilt a shot and Greggors follow up was blocked.

Greggors then had a great chance at the far post but the ball took an eternity to come down and his shot was blocked by the keeper.

Thoroughly frustrating game! Hope that helps Matt!!!

Brilliant summation Dave,it was gonna take me about 3000 words to say the same thing you have,"Wood" came down for a draw, and to find themselves one up after a minute must have seemed like Christmas, and no matter how we tried I just got the feeling it was going to be one of those games, however after we scored at the start of the second half,I then thought"thats it we,ll have two or three now".Wrong again, there always seemed to be a body in the way."Wood" stuck to their game plan(defending from the centre line)and came away with a precious point(although they could have scored a couple more themselves. Thanks to the crossbar and a brilliant save from Danny Potter, they didn,t)

The second half was very frustrating. After our equalizer I really thought we'd go on and win the game but it was not helped by the referee making some diabolical decisions and totally ruining the flow of the game just as we were getting some momentum.

At least we showed a bit more passion in the second half and were willing to fight for the ball. If we had played like that in the first half we would have had no problems but it was one of them games when we didn't have the luck.

Credit to Northwood, they defended very well but even they'll admit they were really under the cosh in the second half.

Let's face it every season we have a game against one of the so called lower ranked teams where we huff and puff but have to settle for the draw. This is where keeping clean sheets is so important because you'll get games where the oppsition will sit 11 men behind the ball and will try and frustrate us at every opportunity. If we are not on top of our game as an attacking force we have to make sure that we keep it together at the back. Unfortunately in recent seasons this has not happened. We've conceded a stupid goal, got back into the game but then had all the pressure and huffed and puffed but never really have looked like scoring.

We should be thrashing these teams but it doesn't always work that way. We should be making sure we cut out the stupid mistakes that have cost us goals because you always fancy us to score at least one goal in a game.
