Thoughts on today's game

I just thought we were poor, once again we let in an early goal and never really looked like getting too much out of Horsham who did defend very well, despite us having plenty of possession,we did start a bit better second half but gradually the mistakes and loose passes crept back in.Had we not let the early goal in we would of possibly sneaked a 1-0 win.Missed Hayles today and Spencer being out for a while is a big blow for us but if we continue to let early goals in we will have more frustrating afternoons like that, funny thing is despite all that I believe we are up to 7th!!!

No we are down to 9th.

If we win on Tueday, then we can go 7th.

These early goals that we conceed must stop. We need to be more awake at the back.

After we had gone a goal down i thought that we did start to play fairly well and looked good.

Had quite a few chances and on several occasions and had the ball cleared off of the line.

We must win on Tuesday to make sure that we have a chance of getting back in the mix for the push for the playoffs.

we were sh**e end of, the opposition had a 100% ratio of shots to goals fair play to them, the snood was man of the match for me,get this out of our system or we will be fair game for the gate on tuesday nite

I was disappointed that we didn't chase the game more after going behind. All too often the ball was pumped forward to Lewis and Martin who were miles apart, not looking like a pair of strikers. Scoring goals is our problem with the strikers not providing enough. Both Martin and Lewis are good players in their own right but perhaps not together. I thought that there also a lack of forward movement from midfield which only changed once Tommy came on.

The play offs are probably unlikely unless one of our forwards can find a goalscoring spree.

On a whole was a terrible performance...how many times do we have to go behind to show abit of urgency? (although that urgency wasnt really shown at all today) - we really are lacking on the goal front our front 2 show promise but seem too frightened to shoot on site. I hate moaning about at us at the min as we have been quality recently but when you see performances like today it makes you annoyed as we all know we have the quality (cray away etc)

I just hope we bounceback on Tuesday rather then feel sorry for ourselves.

If we can't beat teams like Horsham at home, then we can write off the playoffs.

Missing players clearly made a difference today especially Michael Spencer, but we should not let a soft goal in like that at the beginning of the match.

Got to get this performance out of the system quickly.

It was a frustrating and ultimately disapointing afternoon. Its obvious that we play the long ball too often and a bit of creativity in moving forward was lacking. Good to see Tommy Black back on the pitch. And as for another early goal. Can't be bad luck or co-oincidence. We need to be focussed from the start.

Smith ran himeself ragged again chasing the ball but failed to convert when he had a great chance at the end of the first half. Needs better service and then maybe wil not need to go chasing the ball deep in our own half so much.

Big night Tuesday. Win or bust.

Just because we didn't win doesn't mean we played bad. Perhaps we've been spoiled as I've seen people crow on here after wins where the overall performance was as good as today. Had the score been 1 nil to us today, everyone would be saying it was the perfect match. We couldn't put the ball away. That's about it. Onwards and upwards.

You only just got home mate lol??

Definitely not trying to be disrespectful but I would have thought that the attendance would be more of a cause for concern than the result.

What with all the teams that Havering people traditionally support like West Ham, Spurs, Arsenal, Chelsea, Orient and Dagenham all either not playing or playing away a gate of 235 (and ours was about half that) for two clubs that are serious contenders for promotion is really not good enough.

Perhaps one solution could be if both clubs approached the league and requested that both clubs home fixtures don't clash, as this season we both seem to play home matches on the same day. It also might be an idea if clubs got together to come up with a strategy that will help improve attendances, and surely two heads are better than one.

was the gate that high,i am surprised.

To be honest,i know i am going to get sh1t for saying this but we seem to have too many fair weather fans nowadays,I appreciate that not everyone can get to every home game but our home support has gone down by 150 in the last 3 or 4 years and there also seem to be sh1t loads of people who come in at half time as the bar was full of people yesterday who i did not see come through the gate and i stop doing th e 50/50 about ten past 3,10 people in the bar equates to £90 a game,£90 a game x 21 is £1890 a season

is it worth putting some one on the turnstyle at half time, so that we can take money off of them.

Even if the entrance fee is reduced to say £5 for an adult, £1 a child, etc.....

ive never liked the fact people will come in at half time so they dont have to pay.

I suspect that if we charged at half time, none of them would come in.It's a difficult one because they obviously spend money in the bar, which the club could obviously do with

I still think its ridiculous that two local rivals play their home matches on the same day, especially with petrol prices going through the roof, coupled with rising unemployment, away travel could soon be a thing of the past for many fans. Surely then it would be better if both clubs could come to an agreement about concessions for their rivals fans, approaching the Rymans about staggered home dates and even one club considering experimenting with Friday night games.

To be honest with you Alan I do not think many Urchins would go to watch Romford even if it were free, I know I would not ...............

I remember trying to watch you play when we shared and being told I could not use the car park.

You only have to tell me once.

If Hornchurch played at Aveley I as a Romford supporter probably wouldn't bother either as its not the easiest place to get to by public transport and I hate driving these days, so Hornchurch would probably be the main beneficiaries. However, if it helped make Hornchurch more successful it would hopefully raise the profile of non league football in Havering which would hopefully benefit us as well.

I'm not sure if its just a coincidence but when Hornchurch was the so called Chelsea of non league football our gates was probably double what they are now so perhaps my theory is not as daft as it first seems.
