Billericay 4 Folkstone 2

Recommended Posts

An entertaining match with good football from both teams but Billericay always looked the more composed. Cedric Ngakam smashed in the first before James Lawson scored a great second. Folkstone did not look like scoring in the first half but were awarded a penalty at the start of the second half due to foul by Anderson. Town came back with a good finish by Harrison Chatting before our defence opened up to leave Ashley Jones stranded for Folkstone's second. The points were made safe with a headed goal by James Lawson. Most of the 377 spectators must surely have gone home happy with this performance. (No doubt Ashley Jones will spend most of next week practising kicking the ball and keeping it on the pitch!)

A word for the referee, who kept the game flowing ,and was one of the better officials we have seen recently.
I think Simon may disagree.

Twas nice to be part of the crowd today for a well deserved win by the boys in blue, But we really should be singing when were winning. (Shoe Army get it sorted waytogo.gif)

A word to the grounds staff. well done on sorting the pitch out after Tuesday's war of the puddles you people are a credit to the club applaus.gif

A great result for us and a deserved win, scoring some very good goals.

I can only presume Blue Pilgrim has been taking a large number of mind-bending drugs as the referee was Folkestone's best player and the worst, most one-eyed official I have seen for some time. He awarded them a complete non-penalty when their bloke kicked the ball out, ran into our player and fell over, turned down an absolute certain penalty for us in the first half when Bonnet-Johnson was taken out, a clear hand-ball in the second and a couple of other decent shouts.

Hard to single out a MoTM today, a pretty solid performance all round. It will be a difficult game on Tuesday, but hopefully we'll give it our best shot and you never know.

Well done lads, keep it up!!

A total slur on my good name - I have been regularly tested at work and never failed to prove my sobriety !!!!!.

I have been known to voice my opinion to the officials but my new year resolution is to take on board the FA's RESPECT campaign.(sic) This means that under my criteria, I will only criticise officials who have a full 65 minutes of ineptitude. ( and I have seen many this season)

Referees' will make mistakes, like our team does quite regularly, but the guy kept the game flowing and I didn't hear too much whistle. To say he was biased towards Folkestone must come from someone who has been on too many Strongbows !!! Yeah penalties are given and not given, it's no different at the highest level.

I'm relieved to hear that you're "clean" Blue Pilgrim. Of course my comment was said in jest, much like my comment that the ref was their best player - I'm sure that he was just inept not biased....

Surely the main criteria for judging referees should be whether they get the "big" decisions right or wrong and I'm afraid this guy failed miserably - He could easily have cost us two points. I'm sure it's just a co-incidence that all the major decisions went Folkestone's way.

....I did hear a comment that it was the same referee who gave Sutton two penalties against us earlier in the season too - Still he probably kept the game flowing there too!!

A well deserved, I thought we worked hard when we didn't have the ball and showed good movement when we did. all of which made for an entertaining game. We were better (imo) than the score suggests

The ref...I think he's one of the better ones at our level, but on Saturday he was inconsistent.

Well done lads :applaus:

But thats gone now, a big game for us Tuesday :futbolbud2:
