A player's worth?

Weebs thats a bold statment for a mid table suburban premier side. Last two seasons we have been a lower mid table dive one side and have given Met Police a real run for their money. Divison one is a very tough physical and quick league and theres been many players that have come down from a higher level expecting an easy ride yet get a rude awakening.

ftfc stop fibbing...... One of ours was approached by your club in the summer and offered £££

Anyway £££ at division one is laughable - especially last season when after beating a dreadful Feltham side ( we werent much better that night ) we saw a good few of them getting their pay packets after the match !

Some people have got too much money to burn....

HAHA...... money at Farnham.... good one!

If we had cash to burn would we be playing on a cow field?

Agree with the money bit....South park would be a good game and as mentioned about losing the plot ...I can't recall it so I would have to disagree.

Seems to me that some players have it very good, full time job plus money for playing football???

What about all the other staff, Manager, Assistant Managers, Coaches and Physio's. most who give up their free time for no payment at all, what are we worth????

If a club had cash to burn, wouldn't they spend it on building a new ground instead of groundsharing?

the whole thing is laughable and should be stopped players being payed at this level is a fecking joke and has blown up out of all proportion, unless you have someone at your club who is crazy enough do put his hand in his own pocket then where do players think the money will come from, most clubs in this league who have a bar or social club are struggling to make ends meet especially with brewery costs spiralling out of controlLoop has the right Idea the clubs are providing the facilities at great cost for the players to perform on isn't that enough?

Any player need only look at the people standing around watching him play at a home game to see whether he should be getting paid or not. If you're getting an average gate of less than, say, 200 is there really any justification for walking away with cash in hand after playing a game of football?

I picked 200 out of the air and may seem high to some people, but when you think of all the expense in running a football club and the meagre and lessening income sources, it's really not that unreasonable. You're always going to get exceptions where clubs are developed on unsustainable artificial income (Whitehawk and Croydon Athletic spring to mind), but they are more often than not short term enterprises built on foundations of sand, he said pretentiously.

I knew you'd agree with me on this one Kroons because i'm right this all started out with a little bit of exspences at a few clubs now look at it,I sometimes wonder who's fault it is and i'm coming to the conclusion the managers are as much to blame as anyone,I think for some it is a bit of an ego trip.

Hate to say it but it started at Farnham when Steve finneston was there and also at Ashford in the late 80's early 90's so it's all their fault.

I have been payed various amounts to play football in the past but never asked for a penny, it was what was offered.

If a manager can offer it then of course you as a player think it is what they can afford and ask no questions. Sometimes the manager never gave me the money but I never battered an eyelid, never played for money alone and never asked any club 'how much will I be getting'.

I used to turn up and do a better job than the guy on £60 a week for nothing as it was the game I loved and just wanted to play, and win.

I think a manager at this level should find good players that want to do it for the game not the money. Causes too many issues. However saying that, in the Prem, if your gonna pay money make sure it's because you have a team thats good enough for Ryman league, where the money should start. If it was an incentive for players to reach that level then maybe they would try harder to get there. Not just turn up and make an easy buck or two. coffee%20%282%29.gif

I thought it was all that Jimmy Hill's fault and ironic therefore that he ended up as president of Corinthian-Casuals. But he did sign our Clive's get well soon card. Which was nice.

Bet he never bought anyone a drink,Corinthian Casuals are they the Club who never pay,and never get relegated.TRUE AMATEURS?

Great news YV, still reckon you have a few years left in the tank to play at CCL Prem level. Still a bit concerned Loop didn't want my services, perhaps the letter got lost in the post, or maybe he thought Duncs and JJ would convince Koo to put me straight into Cove's starting 11 the next week!
