Next Season

I thought it might be a good idea for all to give proper thought about how to attract more support for next season. Too early? Not in my opinion. Better to plan ahead now than have no plan and wonder why in November why only 200 are turning up.

Suggestions please.

The supporters association are always looking for ideas, one good one we have had which we intend to do is from fingers who came up with the idea of a mural designed by local schools on either the eastside stand or the back of the eastside seats, each school will be asked to paint a piece of mdf which will include the club and local area and there will be a prize for the winner,we hope by doing this to attract at least some of the entrants back

If my sums are correct our average home gate for league matches is 279, anybody know how this compares to last season and perhaps for the past few seasons, ie in the lower divisions?

Sorry to be negative about this.

I think that both West Ham and Dagenham are likely to go down, but I'm not sure we'll pick up many fans

This question came up before and I think Yellow said that they had tried various things at Canvey with little or no sucess.

The mural is a good idea.

I thought we were trying to involve schools in other way previously? Might be worth looking into that again.

What about kids for a quid matches or extending concessions to groups that may not go otherwise (unemployed people for example?)

Anything like this will have to be marketed properly so that the general public know about it.

Our attendances have been pretty good this season. We haven't exactly set the league alight this season but we haven't got below 300 for a home match on a Saturday all season .

Think giving free season tickets to the kids in the youth teams have helped.

p.s. I also like the sound of a mural designed by local schools in the area.

it could brighten up certain areas of the ground.

Also i did mention on another thread about, could the club come to some agreement with the council about putting banners up in Upminster / Hornchurch town centre about advertising our home games.

Could this happen, as it might attract more people?

it's the current economic climate i'm afraid and all the best ideas will be in vain imo, every club in the same situation, says a lot if canvey are chuffed with not getting below 300,glory hunters come to mind unless we are storming away at the top of the prem and do well in all our cup games then nothing will change,i'm even cutting back on away days

canvey is a bit different situation from ours as they are on an island and i feel should attract 5-600 at this level but for some reason although they are reasonably well supported i feel they too are very down on where they should be.

With regards to the banners,it is worth looking at again but we should prepare oursleves for the council knocking us back or at least putting them where they have minimal impact for us.Maybe shop fronts like supermarkets, off licences are the best bet.

Not really a great idea and has the potential to have a negative impact in terms of revenue, but maybe an idea of family tickets, 2 Adults and 2 kids for £20 or something along those lines, but if the league do actually set the window for admission prices, then that might shut the door on that plan from the off.

I do agree, I think £9 is a bit over the top, but it is in line with all the other clubs (again, possibly the league sets the prices) so must be the going rate, and besides, I wouldn't think the club could go any cheaper even if they wanted to (another reason why the above idea might not even see the light of day).

Overall, I'm afraid the only sure winner is to get promotion.
