4 cup competitions

4 defeats by lower league opposition

Brentwood

Ashford town middx

East Thurrock

Heybridge swifts

4 very average sides and in each competition we have gone out,I didn't go tonight and I gather we had a couple of injuries to collis, hunt and Spencer but we should be beating sides like heybridge in a quarter final with the players we have left.

Spoke to 4 people who were at the game tonight and they have all said that we were poor and lacking creativity, their goalie pulled off a couple of good saves but we should still win those games, especially as we have already been knocked out by lower league opposition, are we just not learning from our mistakes in cup football

A game like tonight, had we won could of given us a home semi against canvey or ricay which could of attracted a very decent crowd. The effort that people have put in over the last year or so to stabalise the club has been tremendous, but going out these cup competitions has cost us thousands this season and all without a whimper to be honest.Jimmy has put a strong side out again tonight like he has in the other games but yet again we are out.

We have said how superb the players have been on their league run since the tonbridge game but I will criticise them when they go out of cup competitions like tonight.Glad I couldn't get to the game tonight now

Agree with you there Rob.

Especially with the FA Trophy, if we had won against Ashford and then Dartford. We woudlve had an away draw all the way up at Gateshead.

That wouldve been a fantastic weekend, even tho we mightve gone out in that round.

As a team, the squad should learn from previous mistakes in these important cup games and get a good run for once!

Im also glad i didnt go to tonights game.

Was a risk that i wouldnt get home in time due to working in London and didnt want to keep people waiting or even make others late.

Also dads car was full. Too tight of a squeeze for 5 people in it.

Very Intesting.

2 people who didn't go, slagging the team off.

A comment which is not helpful. AFC Hornchurch like all Football Clubs require support of all kinds, those who can and like to commit down to those who may just glance at the results. We should be encouraging not making snide comments.

To be honest, I wasn't concerned about the game last night, would have been nice to win as we've had a bit of sucess in that cup but never mind.

The Ashford loss was the one that hurt me, especially as the ref was appalling and I felt like we had been mugged.

Brentwood also caught us with a sucker punch right at the end - if that had gone to extra time, we would have knocked two or three goals in.

We've still only lost once in the league since Tonbridge thrashed us and we need to keep believing that we can get into the playoffs.

A win on Saturday will make Hx fans feel better.

Finances are always a concern though, I agree.

It's the financial side which concerns me to be honest,we know we are going to be in the hunt for the play offs but all I really care about is the stability of the club financially,Colin has said a few times that we are still struggling financially and cup runs give a bit of reward financially, had we beaten ashford,Brentwood & to a lesser extent heybridge we would probably be better off by 10k,that amount could come back to haunt a club that gets gates of around 270 as an average

Maybe I didn't go to the game last night but I heard enough from others to suggest that once again we didn't fire on a cup night,if we can't have our say as fans we may as well all give up and go back to watching premier league football and being a statistic who can have their say without anyone caring

My gripe isn't with our league form, that's brilliant and I have no complaints with the teams that are put out in these cup competitions but something is wrong when we can't score against ashford,Brentwood & heybridge, maybe the players just don't get up for the cup games like they do the league games,as I have said we have all praised them for their league exploits this season but the cup exploits are bad to be honest,if we go up I suppose it will all be worth it but if we don't then it will feel like we have wasted an opportunity to get the club ona better level financially

We were very lack-lustre in the first half and Heybridge took advantage of some poor defending to snatch the lead.

In the second half we put Heybridge under a good deal of pressure and their keeper made a number of top quality saves to maintain their lead.

Heybridge scored from a well taken free kick a few minutes before the end to win the game.

Heybridge looked quick and lively last night and gave a good account of themselves which is why we lost.

Hornchurch are seen as a scalp worth taking by lower division sides.

If we can shake off the disappointment of last night set about maintaining a decent showing in the league then we should have a good end to the campaign.

words fail me with the teams from lower levels, they are probably more up for it than us as they are looking for that big scalp, just hope it's not carried over to this saturday with another game we are expected to win

No and neither did you go last night, so i hear!

If you liked to know my above comment was in no way meant to sound as if im "slagging" the team off.

All i put is that the team should learn from mistakes against lower league teams and beat them especially in FA Cup/Trophy.

More we progress, more money for the club!!

I only have the best interests at heart!!

I should think people should be happy fans show a bit of passion by being upset that the team gets knocked out of cup competitions.

At least nowadays we are free to voice our dissaproval at any results whether we were at the game or not.

Personally i feel i am more than capable of commenting on a game i didn't go to,especially as i have been to the other 3 cup defeats this season,i spoke to a few of the fans who went last night and they all felt we were poor, maybe the injuries played a part but we should still beat sides like heybridge, saying that, the mistakes for our first goal i would rather see in an essex cup game than this Saturday,as i have said all along,if we are going to praise the players which we do constantly when they do well, and they have been on a remarkable run since October,we should also be able to comment when it appears they haven't done so well, take away our right to moan and within a few years we will be playing in front of 50 men and a dog once again
