The Oscars - 2011

How does a thread about the Oscars manage to mention SA?

It's like those games footballers use to play when being interviewed, e.g. they use to see how many Beatles song titles they could get in.

Hookey - Well easily because Loosely is in the habit of making everything his business when he hasn't got a clue what he is talking about half the time

Can't say Hookey but possibly a recent tactic of Rhodes to divert attention away from him being found out not having a logical argument. Shame though as we all know that once Rhodes starts going on about his unbalanced issues with SA a decent thread soon gets closed.

Hopefully we can stick to the Oscars although it always bemuses me that Rhodes opens these threads and then abuses anyone with an opinion that differs with his.

How about the Oscars later tonight, what category will you be most interested in as there is far more to the prestigious ceremony than just the big six awards

Javier Bardem, 'Biutiful'

Jeff Bridges, 'True Grit'

Jesse Eisenberg, 'The Social Network'

No problem for Colin Firth last night then, it was always going to be a one horse race

Do you ever read what you've cut and pasted before you actually post it?

That's irrelevant. You stated that the film had won NO Oscars when it had clearly won 3.

If you are discounting Best Adapted Screenplay, then presumably you feel the same about Best Original Screenplay which would mean that in Rhodesworld The King's Speech only picked up 3 Oscars.

The Original Score is I believe the music that accompanies the film, which if true is a very worthwhile award to win, as in my opinion many very ordinary films have become memorable classics because of the music.

Returning to this years Oscars, I would imagine that Geoffrey Rush must feel devastated about missing out, as he gave the performance of his life in The Kings Speech.

Missunderstood - Yes, Geoffrey Rush was robbed blind particularly being beaten by Christian Bale for his 'performance', if you can call it that, in The Fighter

Have you actually seen both films to be able to give that assessment

LATO - Welcome back to the fold, going by your post I get the impression you have seen The Fighter and believe that Christian Bale deserved his Best Supporting Actor award, I'm just disagreeing with you that's all.

You used to wear a bra to the cinema?

No, I can't see you actually going to a cinema, some people are old before their time but to hold forth on who gave which particular bravura performance from reading reviews says it all. To use a Rhodesism, "I rest my case".

So I take that as a long winded no as answer to my question then. Actually I haven't seen either film just curious to see if you had and would be able to say so succinctly (some hope I guess!). So you are basing YOUR opinions upon the view of someone else then and are consequently maybe unfairly criticising Christian Bale. Hmm good to see nothing has changed then!!

For your info the last film I saw at the cinema was A Prophet. (check your review magazines for that one!)
